Is anyone selling the Johnny cupcakes Simpson watch and Bart white shirt?

An audience with Johnny.

I've been a fan of Johnny Cupcakes (the brand) since my girlfriend introduced it to me a year or so ago. I like tshirts and the the high turn around limited runs of quality creative. Going into their store on Carnaby street was a friendly and interesting experience, even if you're not going to splash out on a tshirt there will be stickers, badges or notebooks to ease you into the brand.

  Towards the end of last year I picked up one of their new brand books which told the story and highlighted the ethos of the man behind the brand - Johnny.

  The opportunity to see him talk in London was a unique one I couldn't miss, and he didn't disappoint. He came across as a genuinely nice guy, enthusiastic and passionate. Business savvy and wanting to spread the words of encouragement to do more of what you love. He could easily slip into the realms of self help speaking but I think it's that grounded persona of having done everything himself which meant he was just speaking from experience. No ego, no over eccentricities or irreverent quirks. Just him, the man behind the brand he (and the audience) loves.

  The continual risks and investments Johnny has taken is all aiming for one thing - to create a brand which is more of an experience. Money is spent to make sure everything is the best experience possible for the customers. The packaging, surprises in your order (sometimes actual cash), hidden quotes on Tshirts, stores that look and smell like bakeries and many other nice touches. Experience is something other brands try, but none quite feel as genuine or committed to that as much as Johnny. 

  He came across almost anti advertising, but that was only because he didn't want to spend money on ads to get customers, he wanted to invest that money into the business and customers he had and relies more on word of mouth. But you soon see on the location he hasset up stores and commitment he makes to every aspect of the brand, that it's easy for people to talk or for the brand to be noticed.

DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Make time for you passion... Perhaps controversially (but honest) advising people to cut down hours at lectures at University to make sure you can fit in time to focus on your passion as well.

Strange is cool and whatever it is you're looking to set up or start doing, research if anyone else is doing it. Even if they are, make yours different and stand out so people talk about it. People were making tshirts but no one was putting food or cupcakes on them.

Surround yourself with positive people you'll get more from it.

My favourite simple point was about having small projects, they'll act as stepping stones and you'll learn through success or failure and the more small projects you have, the more you'll learn and when that BIG goal, opportunity or ideas comes along, you're ready for it. This teams up nicely with the whole point about being interested and passionate about what it is you do. The more interested you are, the more willing you'll be to learn, the more you learn and understand the more valuable you become.

Now go create experiences and do more of what makes you happy...

Christmas Times

You can alway count on crappy gifts from your parents and having nothing to eat at a family Holiday party. At least I have a Johnny Cupcake pullover and having a few strong drinks. Now its time for movie time. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and made the most of it.
