Charlette and I at Disneyland in 2010. This was towards the end (almost the very end) of our relationship. We’re friends now…kind of. Regardless, I have some memories I will always treasure. Her and her family helped me love Christmas. I pretty much hated every holiday up until her. They helped me make good memories instead of the nightmares I had in those days. Charlette, in particular, helped me look at the world with different eyes. I don’t know how she did it, but she helped me grow as a man and as a human being. I don’t know where it came from, but she’s been on my mind a lot this year. Apart from Jovana, Charlette is the only woman I’ve ever fell in love with. I’m not sure if that says a lot about her or more about me. Regardless, she will always hold a very special place in my heart. And she will always be my friend, albeit from far away/distant or close to me… Always.

I had an unquenchable fire that roared inside me once. But the ribs were cracked and now where fire once burned has become a nuclear wasteland. Snows and blizzards, hail of razors, but somewhere hidden among this chaos, a little garden survives. Borne out of fire and tears. But she planted a garden of beauty where I once thought nothing could ever grow. I fell in love with her that day. She planted flowers and light in a place that beforehand had known neither.

My life has been a nightmare as I am sure some of your lives have been as well. But our only power over the atrocities done to us is to seek help, actively try to heal our wounds, and use our negative expiriences to help others in the midst of where we once were. That and fighting for our happiness. Anything less, is allowing our abusers,oppressors/or violent conspirators to win in their goal of destroying us internally.
