A birch trunk where a branch has torn away. The bark around the opening is rough and darkened with charcoal, while the inner core is left saturated and detailed. The exposed wood carries deep reds and browns that suggest a kind of wound. It reminded of the pain of separation — something that echoes Buddhist reflections on impermanence.

Turned Out Nice Again (2017) Taken inside a house in need of serious renovation — a purple room, cracked ceiling, and one yellow chair. The color contrast was intentional: a nod to painting experiments in complementary tones, and to finding odd moments of grace in decay.
