But the reason why most European languages use the same alphabet is because they were controlled or at least influenced by Rome to such a degree that they had to use the Latin language including the Latin alphabet, and only later used the existing alphabet to write in their own languages. Valyria never controlled Westeros, and moreover Westeros has a pretty rich history that stretches for thousands of years before the Valyrian Freehold. There is no way that they would use the same alphabet, it's like Indians and Scandinavians using the same alphabet. They both developed their own cultures- including their own writing system - centuries before they even met each other.
