rainer almost exclusively uses their "alias" to refer to themselves. rainer also only ever says their "real" name twice, and on both occasions it was in third person. on one of these occasions, they immediately trailed off afterwards as if it hurt to say "daniel," and on the other they were literally scolding themself.

people tend to portray marvin as just using anna as a means to an end, as a stepping stone to his goal of bringing lina back, and to some extent i do see him as primarily being drawn to anna due to the ways she resembles her sister. but i also feel like...that shared trauma regarding the day lina went missing ultimately caused them to be unhealthily codependent, like despite how often they find themselves clashing with each other they still stay together until anna physically cannot take it anymore and kicks marvin out. also i very specifically see marvin as having an abusive mother and anna having a complex about taking care of people and being motherly due to how she'd be made to babysit lina all of the time + being made to take on adult responsibilities at a young age in general so. something to think about there

i have a personal headcanon that rainer is petscop that i've mentioned before on my main, and tying back into that, i feel as if...the reason petscop could reference a conversation paul had with his aunt in the 2010s when it was supposedly made in the 90s, is because through petscop, rainer is able to learn more about paul's current circumstances.

in petscop 13, this is said after paul catches roneth:

"Congratulations … you caught every pet in Even Care (aside from Toneth, who isn’t here yet.) You have seen everything in the game, so far, but there will obviously be more. It’s a growing organism. Your controller inputs will be useful, but your feedback will be even more useful. Please leave the Playstation on when you leave. You can stand up now."

this could be taken as just...rainer saying that the game is unfinished and that they're looking for feedback from players to continue updating it (in their own weird and cryptic way), but i feel like there's more significance to the fact that petscop is referred to as a "growing organism" and the fact that rainer specifically requests that paul leaves the playstation on. the latter is further exemplified by the entirety of petscop 16.

rainer did not have the energy nor the courage to continue living, but it feels as if they wanted to keep an eye on their family members, even after death. a likely reason for that is because in the end, petscop went from just a passion project to both a hit piece on most of their family and vent art about them. they killed themself and left behind an angry and disturbed suicide note knowing it would wreck them. of course they'd want to keep an eye on them, they wanted to know the effects of everything and how much it would destroy them that, in their eyes, they did not give a shit about them until they were gone.

i dunno. rainer is so ill. i love rainer. do you guys like rainer.

headcanon that marvin fucking LOVES christmas, whenever that time of year comes around he gets so fucking hyped and on christmas morning he'll be excitedly shaking his family members away like IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in my interp, marvin moves back in with his mother after care escapes the abandoned school and he feels as if he has no one else. they had a pretty screwed up relationship - before this, marvin hadn't reached out to her since his early twenties. he feels things are still tense between them, but his mother doesn't mind...she's just happy that her boy is back.
