👫 Hagrid

Reg doesn’t make a habit of going to see Hagrid much (unless it’s the Liz verse, he goes with her) but he does like Hagrid a lot every time he sees him. He’s one of the few people to know Reg by name and to always say hello.

Though Reg is generally an animal person, he is terrified of most of Hagrid’s pets. Had he ever taken Care of Magical Creatures with him, he would have been so stressed every class.

The one exception however is hippogriffs. Reg was nervous the first time Hagrid showed him a hippogriff, but most hippogriffs quite like him and he thinks they’re beautiful.

When Hagrid found out that Reg didn’t get many presents from home, he sent him a package of his homemade treacle fudge. Reg could barely eat it but appreciated the gesture nonetheless.

A gracious thank you swept past Albus’ lips as Hagrid eased him into his seat, and he patted the trunk-like arm of the half-giant affectionately. He then bent with a quiet groan and lifted the heavily layered robes from his ankles to one-handedly remove his gold-beaded slippers, revealing a pair of striped multicoloured woolly socks. “Much better.” he released a sigh as he straightened back up, slumping against the back of the chair and folding his hands on his lap. The braided tresses of his hair and beard were draped about his shoulders and heaving chest, like a gleaming waterfall of pure silver. His bright eyes glittered softly in the suffused golden lighting of his office, the reflection from his spectacles sensibly masking the sheer fatigue of many late nights and a lifetime of peace-keeping.

“Let me worry about Hogwarts, dear lad. I’ve been doing that from before you were even born. You’ve done so much already.” he tilted his head toward the larger sofa, an invitation for the gamekeeper to sit with him. “Can I offer you anything? Scone?”

“How do you do it, Hagrid?” he asked the gentle giant, stirring the hard blocks of sugar in his tea absent-mindedly. Something heavily weighed on the Gryffindor’s young mind. “You’re so … positive all the time.”
