soft  smile  hangs  over  her  lips,  turning  to  the  other  with  a  nod.  “  well  that  will  make  two  of  us  then.  ”  brows  lift  before  gesturing  to  the  situation  at  hand.  “  might  you  have  any  ideas  that  shall  allow  us  to  do  exactly  that  ?  because  i  am  not  sure  if  you  have  noticed  but  our  situation  is  become  quite  dire.  ”  from  another  the  words  might  sound  harsh,  but  she  kept  her  tone  gentle  and  her  voice  soft.  “  personally,  i  do  not  wish  for  this  to  be  my  final  moment.  so  any  help  would  be  greatly  and  tremendously  appreciated.  ”

          “   well it’s just a bit too late for that ,   isn’t it ?   ”     the bitterness spreads across her palate ,   thick like molasses ,   tainted by a lost childhood that she can never get back .   his reluctance to be a father had been abundantly clear to her ,   even as a small child ,   barely understanding where she was or what had happened to her mother .   she barely knew the man who was her father ,   and she made herself scarce when he was around ;   she cleaned up her own scraped knees ,   stitched her own clothes ,   and only cried alone and under the covers at night .   she breathes in and heaves a sigh ,   pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration .     “   i don’t suppose you suddenly want to fix it ,   do you ?   ”

a     roll     of     verdant     color     globes     comes     naturally     to     her     as     she     tries     to     bite     back     a     faint     laugh.     flattery     had     been     a     constant     surrounding     her,     and     yet     she     still     isn’t     very     keen     on     cliched     pickup     lines.     she     hums,     resting     her     cheek     against     her     palm,     tapping     her     cheek     bones.          ❝          and     you     had     me     …          ❞          she     leans     in,     lashes     fluttering     as     a     grin     begins     to     twitch     on     her     mouth     before     continuing,     ❝          until     you     opened     that     mouth     of     yours.          ❞

“ well, the stories are obviously all fake. right? ”

she cannot lie.    she knows that the only time she’s ever manipulated to get her way was likely a fluke, a one time thing.    a miracle if she’s ever seen one before.    but now that stories of the lost princess having been returned back to corona were spreading, she’s been met with questions that seemed to overwhelm her to no end.    what was it like?   were you really there for eighteen years?    certainly you were allowed outside, weren’t you?   and everything of the like had been thrown her way, to the point where her head begins to spin.    by now, such questions shouldn’t bother her much, but it’s questions like this where a simple white lie would prove most difficult to answer, where the truth would lead to a long winded explanation of the events of her life.    

the new princess’ lips purse lightly, gently, in thought as she lets a beat pass.    as if the moment of silence she let sit between them was meant to be something more of anticipation than her silently debating with herself.    “well, i don’t suppose i’d be surprised if some details became a bit exaggerated in other’s retellings.”    although she hasn’t heard many of those, if they even exist.   “although i suppose it couldn’t hurt to tell you which details you may have heard are the truth, and which aren’t.”
