❝ I am deathly afraid of almosts. Of coming so very close to where I want to be in life that I can almost taste it, almost touch it, then falling just a little short.

Does anyone have impulses to shake? Or jolt? Is that something people with ocd go through or no? I know everyone is different
Hey there 🍁
I don’t know much about this topic, but I’ll give as much information that I know! If anyone else is a little more knowledgeable on the subject please feel free to add to this :)
What you’re describing sounds similar to a tic. There are compulsive tic disorders that are related to OCD but aren’t OCD itself. In these disorders tics usually increase if you’re stressed, tired, or experiencing a strong emotion. But you’d have to talk to your doctor/ mental healthcare professional to learn more information about it, and if the other symptoms of a certain tic disorder would apply to you.
But it’s completely possible that if shaking and jolting helps relieve anxiety that you would use it as an OCD compulsion. Sometimes, the avoidance of doing other compulsions to relieve anxiety can result in things like hand shaking, etc.
There is also an anxiety relieving tactic called a BFRB or a Body Focused Repetitive Behavior. They’re usually unconscious impulses used to relieve anxiety for people with and without OCD.
It’s also very common that if you’re experiencing a lot of anxiety to shake/jolt (ie. during an anxiety attack) although these generally don’t appear as impulses or compulsions but just something that your body is doing (though they might depending on the person).
I have definitely seen other people asking about shaking and jolting and if it’s an OCD symptom! Here is the last post I saw it from. In general, people don’t normally associate shaking/jolting with OCD impulses, but like you said everyone is different! If you’d like to be sure you can always ask a mental health professional. They’d be able to give you more accurate info that applies directly to you.
Sorry if this wasn’t very helpful! I hope you have a wonderful day, lovely <3

Joan Larsen’s phone was suddenly abuzz. At first, the Michigan Supreme Court justice thought something bad must have happened. But then she realized it was just that Donald Trump, then the GOP’s 2016 presidential candidate, had added her name to a list of people he would consider for a seat on the nation’s highest court.
“She was stunned to see the sheer crushing volume of texts and…
