Reporting on Poverty Conference
It was very exciting to be working in the brand new JOMEC building - Cardiff University School of Journalism in Central Square, Cardiff. There in the first week it opened, there were still slight teething issues with the building but it was brilliant for photography. Clean architecture, bold colours and a nice proportion of grey which was perfect for colour balancing!
I always enjoy having the opportunity to work with fellow journalists - this event looked at how print and broadcast journalists in Wales have sought to report fairly and sensitively on poverty. The event included seasoned speakers and also a young woman with lived experience of poverty. The event, organised by NUJ Training Wales in partnership with JOMEC is one in a series of topical conferences that brings journalists together with third sector organisations to discuss how they can work together to best bring forward the stories that need to be told.
Hi everyone! I finally came back to writing after a very long absence. I finished my final exams on July 8th and, Gosh, it was one of the worst experiences in my whole life. During my final month of preparation I basically spent my days revising random topics while crying my heart out and eating junk food non-stop. Fear of failure, that is. However, I got through it in the end; and, most importantly, (as you might probably have already understood from my previous posts, eheh) my dream has finally come true! I met and exceeded the conditions to study Media, Journalism and Culture at Cardiff University! I still cannot believe it! They haven’t confirmed my place yet and all this waiting is killing me, but I’m sure everything will be fine at the end of the day. That majestic building you see is home to the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies. I mean... just look at it. It’s amazing!
I really don’t know what to say, I’m so happy! I think my dissertation played a key role in my final score, and I’d really like to talk about it in a separate post because it has a lot to do with this blog, as I probably mentioned a few months ago.
I don’t own a proper computer at the moment, but I want to start again with book reviews and stuff. I seriously have to get down to using English as much as possible before I move to Cardiff (I’m leaving on September 16th, by the way) so as to get a decent grasp of the language. So, as usual, if you feel like reading my posts and notice something wrong with grammar, please let me know.
So that’s it for now! And remember, dreams come true only if you’re brave enough to follow them :)
Is anyone studying Journalism Media and Cultural studies at cardiff in September? Or staying in Talybont North? Also is anyone applying for an extra language course on September 1st? Im thinking of either German or Japanese.. Not sure...

I went to Cardiff University today.
I never wanted to leave. The city and atmosphere is amazing, it feels like such a nice place to be. My day consisted of a 45 minute lecture on Journalism, Media and Cultural studies, a tour of Cardiff and a look at student accomodation and the halls of residence. It's been such a good day; I'm so eager to leave Nottingham now and go out into the world on my own.
This is called aiming high and dreaming big. I need to start motivating myself from now on - how unlikely.
