You keep me up in the night,
You keep me out in the streets.
No matter how much I carve away the pain,
You fill the memory.
Music Recommendation #12
I don’t even have an excuse for being late with this this week, besides the fact that I spent Sunday having fun with my family instead of in front of my computer soooo..... oops.
But jumping right into this post, I’ve decided to completely change the format of these. Instead of giving just a really long list that’s kind of jumbled, I’m going to give you guys 10 songs and add commentary as to why the songs are good and why you should definitely give them a listen.
Here’s my song recs for this week;
I Just Know- Jacob Lee
I just very recently discovered Jacob Lee, and I really enjoy the way his voice sounds. Its so emotional, and this song fit along perfectly with one of my characters and a scene I was writing in my fantasy wip this week. So far of what I’ve listened to by him, this song is my favorite
At Home- Jon Bryant
This is also a new artist I’ve found. His voice is melodic and smooth. He kind of reminds me of Sufjan Stevens, whom I love, and the lyrics to this song are also really romantic and the hopeless romantic in my swoons when I listen to it
Idontwannabeyouanymore- Billie Eilish
I found Billie Eilish after listening to her collab with Khalid, and her voice is so beautiful and yet so sad at the same time, something about it is mesmerizing to me. I just want to give her a hug, and cry at the same time. If I had to describe her voice I’d describe it as being hauntingly beautiful
I Walk on Water- Kaleo
If you’re following me, you honestly may be getting sick of me mentioning Kaleo in every post of mine, but I don’t even care. Something about his voice just speaks to me in a way that I can’t explain. I love him, and he’s one of my favorite artists.
Underdogs- Jim and Sam
I just really like this song. Its cute, and upbeat, and happy. With all the sad songs I listen to, I really need stuff like this.
Human Behavior- Emma Blackery
The last song was upbeat and happy, this one, not so much. But still good. I watch Emma’s Youtube channel on occasion, but I had no idea she made music, and that her music was actually really good. Would highly recommend checking her out.
Saint- Jordan Mackampa
This song... man, I love it so fucking much. Jordan Mackampa’s (awesome name btw) is gorgeous. Its so folksy, and smooth,. and this song is awesome. 10/10. I can’t express with words how much i love this song.
To Be Alone With You- Sufjan Stevens
Any song by Sufjan is always on my go to writing playlist. His voice is so soft, and easy to listen to. Its the perfect background noise to write to.
Sweet Adeline- Avriel & The Sequoias
First of all, that band name is amazing, and secondly, I love music that sounds like modern folk music. This guys voice, and this song reminds me of something The Lumineers would sing.
Acoustic- Billy Raffoul
Finishing out this list is probably my favorite song I’ve found this week. Voice is 10/10. Lyrics are 10/10. I’m a sucker for soft, slow acoustic songs. Make sure to give this one a listen. I really like it.
So there you go! This was a lot more fun to make than the number lists, but let me know how you feel about this new format. If the number lists are easier to look at/ read I’d be happy to go back to those. I just thought this way the lists would be a bit more personal, and help keep the lists a bit more organized each week. Happy Listening!
