They’ve all go suits on. They look so proper
Garfield fans being confused about Jon is my favorite thing.
You know, Jon really can be summed up by 'a man who's pure of heart and says his prayers by night may still become a wolf when the autumn moon is bright.'
Yes, because he can ask his direwolf about the stars, be romantic and idealistic AF, but still bare his teeth and kick ass if necessary. Get you a man who can do both.
Jon and the importance of Titles, Jon and protection...
I am not going to analyse again and trying to convince people that Political!Jon (or whatever you want to call it) is real because there are already so many great metas about this. However, I really would like to draw the attention to the characters lines. If you really focus on Jon Snow's lines, really it's obvious!Don't accept what the other characters say about him or his feelings. Just listen to the man himself! Jon's lines have been quite interesting for a long time but even more since season 7 because Jon is playing. And allow me to that he is playing, again! As it is not the first time.
Now look at the lines:
*** Season 7 ***
Very first scene of the season, Sansa and Jon arguing.
Jon to Sansa: you are my sister but I am KING now [...] alright I'll stop protecting you and you'll stop undermining me.
Sansa clarifies and explains that all she wants to do is help him and protect him too.
A couple episodes later:
Davos reminds Daenerys that Jon is a King when she called him a Lord.
Davos when Missandei calls Jon a Lord:
- King Jon, King Snow?
Jon says "it doesn't matter".
Well that's weird Jon, it really seemed to matter to you when you talked to Sansa....
Same Jon to Daenerys, a few episode later "I don't need your permission, I am a KING."
So, Jon, tell us...important or not important? Which game are you playing?
*** Season 8 ***
Lyanna Mormont is disappointed and doesn't even know how to call him.
Jon to Lyanna Mormont: Being King in the North was the honor of my life.
He then explains that he HAD TO (=forced) to give up his crown in order to protect the North (= again, I had no choice and your protection is more important than my crown).
Now, he says he prefers that other people undermine him rather than risking his people's lives...
A few scenes later:
Sansa to Jon, about Lord Glover: 'I will stand behind Jon Snow', he said, 'the King in the North'
Jon knows titles are important, he knows it, he knows how it works.
Again, Sansa to Jon: You didn't tell me you were going to abandon your crown.
Jon answers: You wanna worry about who holds what title, I'm telling you it doesn't matter.
Meanwhile, same Jon to Daenerys: My Queen, Your Grace, My Queen, My Queen, You are my Queen...
Really Jon?
Jon Snow clearly said that being named King in the North was the HONOR of his LIFE. Do you understand how much it means to him? How much it DID MATTER!
Now the same Jon tries to convince people that he doesn't care about titles. Then why was he so happy to be named Lord Commander? Why was he so proud to be named King in the North? Because Jon has been considered a bastard all his life...he was called Snow all his life...have you seen his face everytime another character called him a bastard? He hates it! Names and Titles matter to Jon! No, he is not power hungry, power is not what he wants. Jon Snow craves for respect, recognition, love. And in Westeros, it obviously comes with titles because titles define you, whether you like it or not...
Jon is clearly lying. He is lying to protect the North, his family and Sansa. He is playing to protect the North, his family and Sansa.
If titles were not important to Jon, then he would have never said that being named King in the North was the honor of his life.
Basically, he is literally saying to everyone that he was forced to give up his honor, all he dreamed of and wanted in his life, to protect the North, to protect the ones he loved.
It has never been about Jon not caring about titles. We know that it is a lie.
It has never been about Jon falling in love with Daenerys. That is a lie. He never gave up the Night's Watch for Ygritte although he clearly said he loved her. So, do you really think that he gave up his crown for Daenerys who completely sucks the life out of him?
It was always about keeping his promise. It was and it will always be about keeping his promise..."I'm the shield who guards the realm of men" = protect the North, protect the people..."I'll protect you, I promise" = protecting Sansa.
"Jon is Jon" and will always be. Please stop calling Jon Snow an idiot and start to really, really open your eyes and respect the man.
Jonmund modern au fix idea??
Just imagine Jon getting fired (I know, sad day... Stay with me) but his sister Sansa and her wife Marg own this cute little beauty salon so he starts working there as a maintenance/handy man.
Days are busy with mommy/daughter days, dramatic explosions about color and "that's not what I want" And about 3 months in he's about to just quit...
When he walks in.
He's tall as fuck, kissed by fire, wild looking with an eyebrow game that's strong as hell. He's got an unruly beard and two of the cutest little redheaded 8 year old twins Jon has ever seen.
So he stays.
He finds out his name is Tormund and his daughters are Tazanna and Yedda. They are all wild, precious and Jon falls in love with all three of them.
Tormund seems smitten too, along with his girls, but it's all mutual pining and angst due to Jon "obviously" being in love with the woman who runs the establishment and Tor is "obviously" married.
Tormund brings his daughters every week and even soaks his feet in the hot water to "get his feet done" with his girls. Every week he winks at "his pretty little crow" and every week Jon melts even more for this big strong softie.
Everyone is getting tired of it. Sansa wants to do something and so does Margarey but after the Dany fiasco no one dares....until the wild twin girls play matchmakers. Yedda tells Jon the truth about their mother leaving due to her illness. And Tazanna has to spell it out for her father that the women who run the place are married. To. Each. Other.
So laughs are exchanged along with numbers and a plan for dinner. The girls have a babysitter but when Jon finds out about it, he straight up pays her just to leave. Tormund makes dinner while the girls play with Wildlings and Wolves in the living room in the middle of this humongous pillow and blanket fort Jon constructed.
Jon Snow: “I DIDN’T ASK TO BE BORN”
