Day 174: Disturbing Santas (Invader Zim and Rick & Morty)
Watched a couple interesting Christmas episodes of shows I like last night. I forgot how often my favorite depictions of things are usually the most disturbing.
Not sure if that speaks more to sci-fi writers' cynical views of the holidays or mine.
First, there is the deceased hobo in a Santa hat enlarged to the size of the United States from Rick and Morty that Rick detonates with explosives. His blood and viscera rain down from the skies on Christmas.
Then, you've got Zim's deranged alien tech Santa suit he'd designed to teleport the people of Earth to their doom. When threatened by Dib's anti-Santa power armor, it becomes an enormous holiday beast that goes on to terrorize the people of earth every Christmas for the next two million years.
