Community really was a miracle when you think about it. By all accounts it was frequently a shitshow behind the scenes, yet all the actors except the ousted racist speak highly of the show and express enthusiasm about the oft-teased movie the show itself predicted in its Six Seasons And A Movie quote/hashtag/premonition/wish. Origin of the phrase 'The Darkest Timeline' and that gif where someone comes in a room smiling and holding pizza only to find everyone screaming and multiple things on fire. The creator collaborated with the cast to incorporate aspects of their identities into their characters. The fans started a convention for it. A star-studded roster of guest stars, including John Goodman, Betty White (RIP), Giancarlo Esposito, and Walton Goggins. A social credit score episode two years before Black Mirror's. A clip show episode where none of the episodes the clips are from exist. TWO brand tie-in Subway episodes!!!
⬆️THIS GUY WON AN OSCAR!!!
⬆️THIS GUY IS HALFWAY TO AN EGOT!!!
And it genuinely holds up. I rewatch it every year. And I find new things! It ended 11 years ago and I still occasionally get gobsmacked by a reference or joke or visual gag I've never twigged to before.
I need them to like…make the movie they said they’d make
Some tidbits from Scott Marder and Steve Levy's Reddit AMA (click/tap on each one to see it in full size.) Highlights:
Season 9 might air in fall 2026
Rick and Korvo would be enemies-turned-lovers
Evil Morty is the true "big bad"
The showrunners would love it if Rick and Morty went on forever like The Simpsons
C-137 Rick didn't purposely destroy Prime Rick's dimension
Rick didn't bring Bird Person with him when he switched dimensions
Diane is definitely gone forever
The Prime Rick we see in "Hot Rick" is a variant
Jerry will have some great moments in season 9
Someone should really sit down with Dan Harmon and have a long conversation with him that you can't have storylines and major character arcs and have your show ¨run on forever¨ because one thing cancels the other
Monster House (2006) directed by Gil Kenan, written by Dan Harmon, Rob Schrab, and Pamela Pettler
the thing that gets me about community is like. annie could’ve been SO much more insane at the end like there’s so much uncharted territory with the whole sociopath thing, i’d love to see a short film of just alison brie as annie losing her fucking mind i actually think it would be beneficial to humanity as a whole, community from the perspective of someone who thinks she’s too good for it all and how that very ideology drives her off the fucking deep end
I needed to see this today. (source)
