A firm-yet-beautiful tour with @bonuslife & @ilovefattys to the floor of Tuckerman Ravine yesterday. This was plan B after deciding to withdraw from #MtWashington Backcountry Fest due to coronavirus concerns - an attempt to maintain social distancing, physical and mental health. Although far from its most serious impact, COVID-19 has brought the abrupt and prudent closure to ski resorts throughout the country and world. It's an intense plot change in an already-turbulent winter season, and adds great financial strain for the winter shops, resort employees and entire industry. Immune to these closures and purpose-built for the backcountry, splitboards (and AT skis) have thrown a lifeline to keep the season alive for many, enabling relatively safe riding and retail activity. That said, the pandemic is more serious each day. What felt like appropriate social distancing yesterday can feel selfish and irresponsible today; careful consideration is needed when health care systems are overburdened, travel is strongly discouraged, transmission is exponential and early distancing has the greatest effect. It’s hard to decide what constitutes ethical outdoor activity, but the more local the better. Stay safe, be cautious, and support your local shop - hygienically! Jones splits & skins just went on sale 👊🏼 #iHeartHovercrafting #TuckermanRavine #JonesRideReport #JonesSnowboards #SocialDistancing (at Tuckerman Ravine) https://www.instagram.com/p/B90OKBfJWv5/?igshid=1wbyn76672sbg
