Onjong in their own little world
January debuts/comebacks
Jonghyun- Deja Boo and Crazy are both JAMS and jjong’s voice is so smooth and fabulous. I’m not like a huge shinee fan, but Jonghyun is doing a great job promoting an album he wrote and produced. I’m happy for him.
G.soul- WHERE has JYP been hiding this man?? You is an AMAZING song and I can’t get over it. His whole album is brilliant, really. Beautiful vocals and cohesive vibe throughout. I hope this marks the beginning to an amazing year for JYPE. BUT WHY IS HE NOT PROMOTING ON SHOWS?
Yonghwa- CNBLUE is easily one of my favorite idol groups, so I was SO excited to see what Yonghwa would do as a soloist. I wanted to see what he would come up with to set him apart from his group, since he is already the face and the leader. I was pleasantly surprised. Mileage and One Fine Day both have a sound that isn’t typical CNBLUE. The videos for both are amazing as well.
Lizzy- (Not an Easy Girl) I watched the live stage of this song before the video and I thought her short hanbok was adorable. And as far as trot goes, I’m not familiar with the genre at all, but I thought the song was catchy and her voice lended itself really well, much more so than her voice in many Orange Caramel songs. :) The MV is also unlike most of what I’ve seen in kpop before, so that was refreshing.
UKISS- When I heard UKISS was making a comeback I was positive nothing could top Quit Playing either in MV, song, or choreo and I was right. Playground is good, but it doesn't beat their last promo cycle, plus all the suits they've been wearing on the music shows have been super ugly. Also. Blonde Eli. What. However, everyone's voices are fabulous as usual.
Infinite H- I don't tend to pay too much attention to subunits, but I love Hoya so here I am. The MV for Pretty is really fun, and I would have said really creative except that Yonghwa's Mileage video came out before this and it is reminiscent of that kind of cartoony/cardboard cutout effect. But the boys themselves are adorbs. Dongwoo in that suit during the courtroom scenes is fire. And the song is catchy, definitely grows on you as you listen.
Honorable mention to 4minute for the Cold Rain MV because all 5 of these queens look amazing, even if sohyun is only in the video for about 8 seconds. Hyuna is still bae but I see Gayoon over there tryna make me rethink my girlfriend. Can't wait for their official comeback.
