idk if it’s just me but it always makes me uncomfortable when mlm fandoms are almost exclusively women and the way they talk about the ship is always verging on fetishising male homosexuality. i remember there was discourse about that a long time ago and one of those female shippers was like “well i’m a lesbian and we dont get great female characters to ship so this is just representation, okay!” but then that’s just… missing the point?? :-/

i mean I obviously have M/M ships lmao. And I don’t want to completely discredit slash fandoms. I do think there is something safe about it for young girls exploring their own potential q***rness? Bc in fics it’s never a big deal or bad, and if the girl is heavily closeted or living in rural alabama this may be the first place she ever allowed herself to consider it.

However if you only have M/M ships....thats just odd. I love my slash OTPs but theres a disconnect. I don’t relate to them. I don’t even have the anatomy.
