ok justfninished ep 1 taking a break and i just wanna say. i think its like really obvious like everyone probably knows this but topher is doing with joan basically exactly what he tried to do with abe. at the start of season 2 he saw abe who was outcasted by everyone immediately after being frozen and he tried to sort of take him under his wing in a sense but it went wrong with abe revealing that he likes joan. and now that shes in the same spot he was in topher is trying the same thing with her. except to me there’s a very big difference with like,, tophers relationship with abe, albeit barely present in the season that much, seemed way more personal and sincere than what he’s trying to do with joan from what ive seen so far. with abe, topher seemed to prefer doing things that were only meant to be seen by abe, almost doing things just for him. he personally invited him over in an attempt to demonstrate the type of person he is to abe. but what he’s doing with joan is something that feels a lot more like. tophers relationsgip with abe was performative too but i cant think of a better word for it. a lot more public i guess. he’s putting himself out there not just to her but to the other bleacher guys. basiclsly what im saying is how do the writers not expect me to view abe and topher in Even just a somewhat romantic light when its SO similar to how topher acts around joan who he apparently has feelings for
