Why I chose these ships

Brendeo -  i needed to draw them again?? i've done a bunch recently, and they're great????? i love brenda

Jorissa - joanna is pretty and i wanted to draw her, and carissa is my favorite rock! easy.

Iristo - otp. duh. i love these two, they're the only reason im into lr still, since if it weren't for them i wouldn't have pulled bun in and they wouldn't keep me interested

Talissy - talia is pretty, missy is pretty, their hair texture is my favorite to draw... its a match made in heaven. Prince coloring it for me was a bonus, cause i made a mistake in choosing to do concert outfits i don't actually like drawing. i make bad life decisions.

Kylia - the show did an ok job selling it, and i had a really cute idea while talking to bun. easy.

Jodiris - have you watched desert heat? iris gave him bedroom eyes. it's amazing i havent seen anyone do this, it's really cute....

Jodaniel - I just wanted to draw nate being cute, and jodan is my favorite boy.

Praxzira - bun suggested it, and honeslty? im not mad. it's not a bad ship, i might do it again later.

Jolyna - Joanna is pretty and i love lyna's hair, it just... worked out. plus they seem like they'd get along, i thought it'd be cute!

Carissy - one third of my favorite ot3, these two just play off each other in a really interesting way in my head. i love them.

Jodevalia - a happy medium between bun's talia otp (levalia) and one of mine (jodalia), plus all three of these characters feel like they'd work together just really interestingly.

Praxoug - i thought doug and the twins played off each other interestingly in s1 but i wouldn't have thought about shipping them together at all if it weren't for prince, and honestly praxoug is really cute! i've drawn them a couple of times now, and i might do it a few more times :3c

Carimothy - another third of my favorite ot3, i didn't get to finish that set this time around but i might make an effort to next lrmsw, timothy is my favorite of the boys auri flirted with, though im not interested in auri and timothy together. i prefer him and carissa, he feels like a guy who'd benefit from a strong-willed SO

I love Jo-Jo, but I don't understand his story? His heroics came too early on and then he just moped and went of with Marissa- who doesn't treat him well? And then became a sorcerer?

y e a h, i really like jojo, so i was grateful that we at least got to see him, but his arc was very… odd to me. especially since angie hyped up that he would have an important role and it wouldn’t be “what you expect” and… i… don’t really think that was delivered on.

because, ok, this left me the entire book waiting for the big reveal that somehow jojo was going to have the answers to fixing the lapis lazuli. like, as if that book that he was reading at the beginning was going to have some sort of clue to how to find another orm egg or something.

and i was really happy at his big moment in the middle! like, people always see him as stupid, and someone who’s going to mess everything up, so to have him throw himself into the fray to save everyone is really important to me. but then? it came half way through, and then the next thing that happened involving him was he accidentally helped marissa scheme against his sister. and he’s back to the bottom. and i was really hoping he’d be like, “man, i really thought i hadn’t screwed it up this time, so i’m gonna fix it” or something like that? but then. he didn’t.

and everything about him going with marissa to the red city was weird. maybe for marissa it was a fitting end to her arc (though i really think she should have either developed into a better person or gotten her comeuppance, but whatever). but for jojo? what about leaving to become the powerful sorceror of the red city tied into his arc at all? it didn’t, it was just kinda there because that’s where marissa was going to end up. in a book where family is the most important thing, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way that a brother - one who was very close to at least 3 of his siblings - just kinda… left.

and the thing is, i could have gotten really behind jojo and marissa too. having this kind of screwed up relationship is fine, but like… i feel like they just got together without earning it, you know? like, if at the party, after all hell breaks loose, jojo tries to save everyone, yeah? so what if marissa had thought he died while doing that, and was really torn up about it, especially since the kraan were her fault. then, she finds out that he’s alive, he was just really ready to sacrifice himself for everyone else, and she realized that losing him would actually affect her, and it makes her take him a little more seriously? because at this point, it still seems so fragile to me, since marissa is just holding out until she can get something better. i have a cousin who was in a relationship like that, where the guy was super in love with her, and she liked him well enough, but she was always ready to leave him at the prospect of something better. and it failed! relationships like that don’t work, if one person isn’t ready to love the other, not seeing it as settling. so like, these 2 emo kids (kids? they’re in their 20s, whatever) who play mind games with each other is fine, but they have to at some point get out of that routine and into something more substantial, or it’s just going to burn out. so i don’t know. i’d be really into fan content that explored this concept a little more, since it was very unsatisfying in starchaser.

no, you’re good! since it’s canon, i’ve been trying to get more of an understanding for them, and while i’m not a huge fan of marissa, i love jojo, and i’ve actually been coming around to it. and thank you!! i try to make it a little more interesting haha

who makes the bed: jojo, but he does a terrible job and it usually just gets messed before it even matters

who cries during movies: jojo!! and marissa is just there with a dead expression, rubbing his back as he sobs his eyes out at like, a cinderella story

who spends the most while out shopping: marissa. she has very exquisite tastes

who is more dominate:  marissa. jojo will try to impress her, but he’s just putty in her hands
