Ever wonder who built the happiest corner of YouTube? 🌈
Meet Joseph Garrett, the soft-spoken visionary behind Stampy’s Lovely World—a place where rainbows are plentiful, and the only limit is your imagination. While the rest of the internet got loud and chaotic, Stampy’s channel became a gentle, welcoming haven for millions of kids (and let’s be real, their parents too). He didn't just play a game; he built an empire of kindness, one block at a time.
The Man Behind the Cat
Joseph Garrett started his YouTube journey like many others: with a passion for gaming. But he had a secret weapon: an incredibly warm and genuine personality that shone through the screen. He wasn't just a gamer; he was a friend, a storyteller, and a guide. His iconic cat avatar, Stampy, became a beloved character, leading viewers on adventures that were always fun, never scary.
More Than Just Minecraft
While Stampy’s Lovely World is his legacy, Joseph’s creativity didn’t stop there.
Wonder Quest: He teamed up with YouTube giants to create an educational show that made learning an adventure.
Minecraft Story Mode: He even lent his voice to the game, bringing his signature charm to an official Telltale title.
His work consistently proved that family-friendly content could be wildly successful and creatively fulfilling.
A Lasting Legacy of Joy
With billions of views, Joseph Garrett’s impact is undeniable. He showed the world that the most powerful ingredient for success isn't shock value or high-stakes drama—it’s simple, unfiltered joy. In a digital landscape often criticized for its content, Stampy’s Lovely World remains a gold standard for what positive, safe, and imaginative entertainment can be.

SLH part 2
Garrett studied video production at university and initially intended to be a games journalist. His early YouTube work consisted of "Let's Play" videos which he made for his own amusement. When he noticed that his primary audience was children, he reoriented his work to be family-friendly.[7] When the videos became popular, Garrett left his job as a barman to focus on producing the content full-time[8]
Garrett's YouTube channel is aimed at children, and his audience is largely 6 to 14-year-olds.[1] As the character of Stampy Cat, an orange and white cat, Garrett tells stories within Minecraft and other games. He gives viewers ideas for activities to pursue with their friends.[5] Garrett describes the character as "a bigger, brighter, better version" of himself.[9] He receives correspondence from his viewers and thinks they see him as a friend, rather than "a presenter in a studio".[1] Other characters in the videos include iBallisticSquid, played by Garrett's friend David Spencer,[1] and Sqaishey Quack, a duck character played by Garrett's partner Bethany Bates.[10] Jordan Shapiro of Forbes.com said that "he does a great job of bringing the positive aspects of Minecraft—the game’s educational potential—to the surface."[11] Caroline Knorr of Common Sense Media describes Stampy's presentation as best for younger fans and that "Stampy feels a cross between Pee-Wee Herman and Mr. Rogers."[12]
On 25 April 2015, Garrett launched a spinoff educational YouTube channel in collaboration with Maker Studios.[7] The series, Wonder Quest, is scripted, professionally produced, and designed so that it can be used in classrooms. Garrett has also been attached to a Minecraft film.[9] In July, he appeared on the series premiere of the Disney XD sitcom Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything where he portrays the announcer Stampy Cat at the World Gaming Championships.[13][14] He was a featured panelist at MineCon held in London in July.[15][16][17][18]
Garrett has signed a two-book deal with Egmont Publishing.[19]Stampy's Lovely Book was released on 22 October 2015; aimed at ages 4 to 10, it features games, activities, jokes and facts about Stampy Cat and some of his Vlogger friends.[20]
