I’ve had #codetalker by #josephbruchac on my #tbrlist for awhile, but knew I wanted to be in the right headspace before #reading it. Then I started to feel the universe give me a little push. You ever feel like that? The movie #windtalkers came on TV and I actually watched it after avoiding it for years because I could tell from the previews that the Navajo’s were not really what the story was about. Then I went to Hawaii and took the ATV tour around the places where movies were filmed on the island and Windtalkers was one of the films featured on the tour. Then I was searching for a new #audiobook to listen to and clicked on the library’s selections for #nativeamericanheritagemonth and Code Talker was the first book on the list that I hadn’t already #read. That was the last push I needed. This #yabook is well done. It’s about a young Navajo boy who chronicles a bit of Indigenous history and what his life was like before he enlisted. Then of course it moves into telling the story of his experiences in training and in war. I finished it quickly, it was so good. I highly recommend reading it for yourself and with your kids. #bookstagram #bookgeek #bookworm #booknerd #indigenousbooks #bookish #bibliophile #indigenoushistory #bookaddict #bookaholic #bibliotherapy #indigenousbookstagram #readersofinstagram #books #audiobookstagram #veteransday #honorourveterans https://www.instagram.com/p/CWJU3TOLZXh/?utm_medium=tumblr
