Keep Your Spiritual Eyes Open
Hey Guys, So I just heard some song lyrics that remind me of the spiritual war that is going on in our day and age. "Well here you are, two steps ahead and staying on guard. Every lesson forms a new scar, they never thought you'd make it this far. But turn around, they've surrounded you its a showdown and nobody comes to save you now, but you got something they don't. You just gotta keep your eyes open." - Eyes Open by Taylor Swift It reminded me of how Satan and his minions are always causing trouble for us. There is a war going on and it is very real! The spirits of the followers of Satan are always waging war with us. Yet we have something they don't. We have the power of God. We just need to keep our spiritual eyes open so we can come to recognize the scemes of the evil one and his minions. There are so many people out there who think the adversary isn't real. That Satan is just a character that we Christians made up to scare people into doing what we say. However through the First vision of Joseph Smith we can see that this isn't the case. "After I had retired to the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me, and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so, when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick darkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction. But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me."- Joseph Smith History 1:15-16 Satan knew that Joseph was about to be called to do what some would consider to be the greatest work of the age. It is so important for us to understand how real the spiritual battle is. Its not a battle for land, power or ritches. Its a battle for your soul. So the question is this....who's side are you on?
