June 27, 1844
Hey you guys,
So today was an emotional day for me…..today is the anniversery of a day that changed the world forever. On this day in 1844 a mob stormed the jail at Carthage Illinois. There they shot and murdered two men and forever sealed the testimonies of God The Father, His Son Jesus Christ and The Book Of Mormon. The men spoken of did nothing wrong except preach the truth and live their lives the way God would have us live. Of course I’m speaking of the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith the Patriarch. It is because of their ceragious sacrifice that we as Mormons and as Christians have all that we do today. I think about them often not just today and all I want to say is “thank you”. Thank you for being so creagious, sted fast and strong in your beliefs. Thank you for being a pivital part in the resteration of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. Just knowing that you are family makes me weep. Not with sadness but with jpy to know that I have your blood running in my veigns. I love you both so much.
The Path To Palmyra....The Path To Our Eternal Home
So its no secret that I've been struggling lately. I've just felt stuck in a rut, it seems like bad things just keep right on happening and when I finally think I'm getting a break more bad things happen. I've been pleading to Heavenly Father for help and I think I received it in the Ensign. This is talking about Joseph Smith and his families journey to Palmyra New York. "Could not the Lord, who so carefully orchestrated the placement of the golden plates over a millennia earlier, have provided a straighter, more comfortable and heralded path of arrival? Yes, He surely could have, but He did not. There was no prominent, prophetic anointing of Joseph in his childhood (see 1 Samuel 16:11–13). There was no directive dream pointing him to a promised land (see 1 Nephi 5:4–5). There was no curious Liahona to help his family avoid missteps along the way (see 1 Nephi 16:10; Alma 37:38). And there certainly was no open-air limousine traveling along a sunny, streamlined parade route with cheering masses providing a triumphant welcome. Rather, for Joseph and his family, there was a wildly meandering trail of sorrow marked with bad luck, ill health, poor judgment, natural disaster, crushing pain, callous injustice, continuing obscurity, and unrelenting poverty. This is not to suggest that the Smith family lived in one continual round of abject misery; they did not. But the path to Palmyra was anything other than direct, prosperous, and publicly notable. Lame, limp, and bloodied, the Prophet literally had to be carried to his unparalleled rendezvous with destiny by a nameless stranger. Remember this as perhaps the first lesson of Joseph’s life and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. In spite of failure, mishap, and bitter opposition—and in many cases precisely because of those things—Joseph Smith got exactly where he needed to be to fulfill his mission." I'm crying because I understand now....everything that is happening to me was meant to happen so I could be exactly were I need to be. :)

Joseph Smith Prophet Of The Resteration
I have found in my missionary work that the way to open people's hearts to the truth is through Joseph Smith. That is why I am so thankful that I have such a strong testimony of him as a prophet. I found that he can open people's eyes and once they learn about Joseph the rest just falls into place because if Joseph was a prophet and translated the Book Of Mormon through the gift and power of God that must mean The Book Of Mormon is true and if its true that must mean the doctrine in it is true and so on. Some people think that the translation of the Book Of Mormon was easy, however we can see through some letters that this wasn't the case. It required a lot of consintration and a willingness to listen to the spirit. Joseph would translate for hours and hours on end, always starting were he left off. He never needed someone to read it back to him. This would be hard for a learned man to do, but for someone who was so unlearned as Joseph it would be near impossible. I know with every fiber in my being and without a doubt that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father DID appear to him when he was 14 years old. The angel Moroni did appear to him and showed him were to find the golden plates and Joseph DID translate the Book Of Mormon by the gift and power of God. Because of the work of this amazing man, the TRUE gospel and the TRUE church of Jesus Christ is on the earth today. Joseph sealed his testimony with his own blood and now truth is flooding every land. Thank you so much Brother Joseph. You are a hero in my eyes, and I know that one day I'll get to see you again. And I leave these things with you in the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Amen. XxX Sister Kimberly Michelle
