I can’t even begin to measure the amplitude of astonishment that San Francisco duo Cathedrals’ music has brought us in the past, in large part due to Brodie Jenkins’ exceptionally ravishing voice and vocal range. It’s been awhile since we last heard from Cathedrals, but we find ourselves flying high after the alluring nightingale announced her new solo side project named Brodie. She teams up with Moving Castle co-founder Josh Jacobson on her first single, Down Like That, a lusciously rhapsodic, summery lifting pop anthem with funky guitar tweaks and succulent dance beats. Brodie reports that her new solo endeavor blossomed out of the collaborations Cathedrals has been doing with other talented songwriters and producers. Some of these tunes haven’t been the right fit for Cathedrals, but she still loves them and wanted a way to share them with the world. Down Like That is a perfect last hurrah of summer. It’s a whirlwind frolic fit for twirling your way across a windswept beach, with no fog in sight and golden sunlight warming the sand twisting beneath your feet. Josh Jacobson is in transition. Last year he released his lush First Light EP last fall, and recently gave fans a taste of new music with the double A-side singles, 'One You Need' and 'Violet'. He’s been working on a debut album, with which he hopes to showcase his vocals and songwriting more prominently than ever before. As he puts the finishing touches on it, he’s chosen to debut a new mixtape called WAVE.
