CHAPTER WORD COUNT: 1056
“Poor baby,” I murmured quietly as Peter and I were snuggled up around each other. It had been decided that we would continue our weekend at Sherwood Forest Renaissance Faire, coming to visit the groggy little man, who would be kept under heavy sedation while he recovered from his traumatic, invasive face and arm surgery. “Thank heavens Daisy was there to prevent any more damage.”
When we had returned back to the faire grounds, we found that Elizabeth and Katie had corralled the babies into their parents’ tent and that Elizabeth’s dog had stationed herself in front of the doorway and was refusing to allow anyone entrance, standing at guard and growling softly whenever people would come near, accidently or on purpose.
We also received word that the dog who had attacked the babies had died due to injuries obtained when Daisy had fearlessly protected her furless puppies. Needless to say though, Peter had gone out to the local grocery store and returned with a big, juicy steak to be cut up into her breakfast the next day.
“Daisy is such a good dog,” Peter whimpered, running his strong nose over my face. “I’m so happy that we got Bitty that dog.”
“Oh my love, Mittens will lose her kitty shit when we get back home again,” I realized with a groan, rolling over so that my back was pressed to his front this time. “She is not going to allow anyone near her injured kitten.”
“I would imagine not,” he snorted as he crushed me to his manly chest.
“I love you both, but just shut up already!” Katie grouched grumpily from the attached room where she and her siblings were bunked up for the night. “I’m trying to sleep here!”“Sorry, mo stór,” I whispered around a snort. “Goodnight, my love.”
“Goodnight sweetheart,” Peter rumbled as he blessed my womanly lips with a sweet kiss. “See you in the morning.”
“Finally!”

I awoke the next morning to sweet little bedbugs attempting to creep their way in between Peter and I, giggles and babbles filling the otherwise still air. I glanced over into the little room and saw that Elizabeth and Katie were still sound asleep, with Elizabeth twitching from time to time and Katie snoring softly.
“Shhh!” hissed little girl as she led the charge of adorably tiny babies. “Don’t wake up Papa Pete and Mama Wen Wen-”
“Too late.” I chuckled as I rolled onto my side to intercept the babies. “Good morning, sweet babies. How did you all sleep last night?”
“Not too well,” Baby Jojo answered my in a timid meep, having successfully crammed herself right underneath my armpit. “Nightmares.”
“Ah, understandable.” I understood where their fear came from as Peter began to wake, groaning softly as his hazel blue eyes fluttered open gently. “But Daisy saved Tommy and defeated that evil doggy, so you don’t really have anything to be worried over.”
I looked over towards the door, where Daisy was alert and on patrol as her long, slender tail swept the floor in a casual wag.
“Good morning my love,” I greeted him in a gentle murmur as I leaned over to gently cup my palm into the side of his face. “Did you sleep well last night?”
“Not really, no,” he sighed groggily as he opened his sleep encrusted eyes and smiled at me. “My mind kept me from experiencing a restful sleep.”
“I understand you my love,” I whispered as little girl shoved herself up against her beloved godfather’s chest with a needy whine. “Yesterday was extremely emotionally draining for the entire family.”
“Mama Wen Wen, can Daisy be trained as a vest doggy?” little girl piped in just then. “There’s a boy in my class who has a vest doggy.”
“A vest doggy?” I repeated, confused by her words. “That sounds fascinating- can you tell me more about what a vest doggy does?”
“The vest doggy helps Conner when he’s about to have a seizure and tells him whenever he’s touching peanut butter.” I understood at once what she was talking about at once.
“I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE AHHHHHH” screamed my cell phone just then as I was snuggling with the tiny little Ratajczyk babies. “I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE AHHHHHH”
I reached for my phone only to be beaten by Peter, who answered my phone with a sleepy little greeting.
He automatically perked up at the conversation, immediately throwing back the covers on his side and jumping up out of bed.
“Sweetheart, it’s Tommy.”
His worried voice made my anxiety spike up dangerously as I also got up out of bed and rushed to get myself ready for the day ahead of me.
Mo stór, my dear, Irish Gaelic
