I need you to know Haus of Decline was also on Arthur as a kid as the Brain. My theory for why The Brain never appeared in the final episode of Arthur is because she is now living her best life as a beautiful woman and in order to do that justice we would need an entire animated film dedicated to her. PBS Kids and WGBH hire me

Hi, how should we format submissions for non-English works? I want to suggest Tengo miedo, torero by Pedro Lemebel but the English translation has a slightly different title (My Tender Matador). Also maybe Kiss of the Spider Woman / El beso de la mujer araña by Manuel Puig

I've queued both of these, thanks! I queued the English translation of Tengo Miedo, Torero because Storygraph didn't seem to have the original Spanish in its database.

For non-English submissions, they just need to be formatted in a way that the title will pull up results. Especially for anything that doesn't use the Latin alphabet—the only non-Latin alphabet I can read is ancient Greek—I need the title to be exact, or I'll either fail at finding it or post completely the wrong book, haha.

god specifically i want him to dump Sandy because he’s finally coming to accept that his friends are GENUINELY WORRIED FOR GOOD REASON and that it isn’t working (specifically want him to be angry about it in the moment and then reconcile with her and be friendly but That’s It years down the line). i want him to be an absolute wreck afterward and go to Paulo for comfort, paralleling when Lucy got rejected by Mike. 

and then, not necessarily what i think would be good for the story, but what i think would be good for The Me -- i want Mike to rebound with Paulo cuz he’s upset. i want it to only Go So Far, like they just kiss or something, but i want it to be an indicator that Mike has NO clue what his sexuality is cuz he’s just been Sandy-Focused for 1000 years. i want them to be like “OKAY UM.. SO THAT HAPPENED” and then just be friends after but for them to be like, Really Close. and then maybe talk about it again in like 5 years.

Have you checked out Gaku Space’s commentary on Dragons that he uploaded to his YT channel recently? He had some interesting thoughts about Genji and Hanzo!

after having watched it, it’s neat to see that a lot of his headcanons line up with stuff the fandom has said

ie Hanzo and Genji’s fight and how the angle of the slash on the scroll lines up with the slash across Genji’s chest in Blackwatch

Not the previous anon but can you please say more about your thoughts on Arthur and its characters. Genuinely one of my favorite shows and Francine has always been a favorite of mine too. I’ve always felt recognized by her baby butch swag

yes!!! francine is so awesome in how she subverts so many stereotypes and expectations of jewish women and girls on tv. she and her family are jewish AND not pale-skinned AND clearly and vocally working class. francine is smart and astute, but doesn't fall into the stereotype of 'ugly girl redeemed by her intelligence' - she is never depicted as ugly, just 'not feminine,' and she is smart in a subtle, witty way that differentiates her from nerds like Brain *and* hobby-nerds like George (who is himself challenging stereotypes of nerdiness by being dyslexic).

like....francine is just so fully fleshed out (for a kid's show character), as is the familial and cultural context she comes from. she's proud to be jewish and struggles to follow the "rules" in a christonormative setting. she hates the stereotypically feminine but is still tempted by gendered consumption culture –– and, of course, still (gay) besties with muffy. she can be a bully and be overly domineering toward quieter kids, but is also deeply sensitive and insecure, especially when her skills (e.g. in sports) are challenged.

there's a lot to love about arthur, but the fact that they let francine be a tomboyish, jewish girl of color who was imperfect, jealous, and sometimes mean, AND given a huge amount of care, friendship, and character growth throughout the series...chef's kiss. also, the writers did an amazing job with her in one of my all-time favorite arthur episodes, World Girls.
