There she is again, near the lake. Joukah still has no idea what she does here all night.
He scratches his lusus behind his ear and tells him to stay still as he approaches his jade-blooded moirail. She seems to be lost in thought, staring down into the water. She only notices and lets out a quiet, startled squeak when he kneels down and puts his hand on her shoulder.
“Hey, Sads,” he grins and gives her shoulder a few firm pats, “I’m back.”Way to state the obvious. Strangely, she doesn’t seem too happy to see him, despite his absence of several weeks. Who else does she have to talk to when he’s gone on his travels? No one, probably, since that girl obviously has no friends.
She looks at him, but then turns back towards the more appealing blue of the lake. Although she has much to tell him, no words come out of her mouth. Maybe it’s just hard to speak when the water in your lungs has returned.
