Embracing Joy

As the old adage goes, "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life". This might appear too wonderful to be true. Work is, after all… work. It's generally thought of as drudgery, something that has to be done in order to pay the mortgage, buy the medications and do the other important things in life. However, this approach leaves a lot out.Work, in fact, can be a source of joy. It can provide a sense of purpose and meaning, as well as opportunities for challenge and development, and amazing connections.Bring the joy back, by doing following some amazing team-building activities.
I often have two books on the go to read: a fiction and a non-fiction. The latest non-fiction I’ve just finished is Joy at Work by Marie Kondo and Scott Sonenshein. Really enjoyed it! - great food for thought on where you want to be in life and at work - ways to develop your efficiency and how things work for you - making best use of your time and energy at work - this impacting how you feel in life, with less stress to bring home. Recommend! Everyone will find something that can help enhance their life. Even if it’s helping you think about where you actually want to be in your career and how to improve your decision making. #GrtArtcl from #HBR re importance of #JoyAtWork , a reminder that #SoftSkillsMatter "...many companies struggle because their cultures get in the way — too many layers and silos, too many colleagues who prefer to stay in their comfort zones, bask in their KPIs, and resist new ways of connecting and working." #ProfTimRN #CSIBUS605 https://hbr-org.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/hbr.org/amp/2019/07/making-joy-a-priority-at-work (at College of Staten Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFMyW6vhQRjz-g4LbcHpjHgJK0oAFYY41G7gH00/?igshid=161dnfgfviplz
