so I have been having a Very Bad Month BUT I did read the jurassic park novel for the first time in my life and that was amazing. I didn't know you could get jump scared by a graph godddd I love books so much. I also never had a dinosaur phase as a kid, so everything right is new to me, and man, discovering the world of paleo art has been so fun.

anyway, novel fan art! malcolm, hammond (technically), grant, & ellie. I'll probably change up everyone's designs later when I re read it with a pencil in hand haha.

#hammond is the only one with a specific thing in mind im working towards that's not necessarily book based but there's #a turn of phrase they use. what was it. terminal delirium. and something about it made the back of my mind start focusing #on jg ballard's high rise as a narrative point of. not exactly comparison but like. hammond and royal. are pulled from a similar #rib cage. if that makes any kind of sense ghghg #jurassic park novel #jp tag

Fun thing I like about Japanese is that it makes a distinction between これ (kore), それ (sore) and あれ (are), that get flattened to just "this" and "that" in English. "Kore" can be "this", but while both "sore" and "are" could translate to "that", "are" gives a wider sense of distance right, meanwhile "sore" is as close as the person you're talking to. The reason I like this is because we have the exact same thing in Portuguese (isto/isso/aquilo).

#rambles #also like how japanese has both #考える (kangaeru) and 思う (omou) that both technically translate to “i think” or smth like that #but kangaeru is more the like. having thoughts and ideas and making your brain work and stuff #meanwhile omou is think as in having an opinion about something #or at least thats what ive come to understand #which we ALSO have got in portuguese!#so its kinda funny bc the thing im using to learn is from japanese to english #so it DOESNT make this difference and im just looking at it like. hm. ive seen these kinds of words somewhere #jp tag #japanese #also feel free to correct me if im saying bullshit im still learning lmao

fascinating mclennon cultural divide insofar as from what i have seen tumblr is a majority paul uke crowd while twt is a majority john uke crowd. i do not have any hypotheses whatsoever on why this is. it's just funny that there is a dichotomy.
