Taking care of yourself is easier with friends!
This was originally gonna be for the lovely @atomicraft's jrw(d)isability week but then it grabbed me by the collar and dragged me into weeks of rendering and little details. Took them ages to figure out exactly what was wrong bc they didn't even know what normal is supposed to be for a Fauna elf. His blood tests were absolutely wild.
Gravitational difference his body can't quite adjust to results in him functionally having POTS
He also needs a lot of nutrients that don't really exist on Prime. Living off of beef stroganoff didn't do him any favors but he doesn't regret it
Professor Cross finally landed on regular infusions of saline with the extra nutrients (don't ask how he got them) as the best treatment
Vyncents just glad he doesn't black out every time Dakota grabs him for a run now
Now that his symptoms are mostly under control, he ends up doing a lot of caregiving for the others. He'll never admit it but he actually really enjoys mothering over the others
William
Being dead is like really bad for your lungs. Man is asthmatic as fuck now
He also has FND but nobody has figured it out yet so he just deals with the dystonic episodes and random paralysis and tries not to think about it too much
It's an unspoken rule that William doesn't get to be alone when he's having one of those episodes. He spirals hard if he doesn't have someone else there distracting him
He also has ME/CFS. Because I'm projecting and also being dead is exhausting.
Is on a stupid amount of meds to try and find something that helps. They haven't really made much progress but Professor Cross is determined and William promised Dakota he'd keep trying
Dakota
Is way too casual about the amount of chronic pain he has
Nobody knew he had endometriosis until he was like "yeah yknow when you're on your period so you throw up and pass out like 3 times on day 2 haha" and William was Horrified
Ashe asks him what he needs taped when she tapes herself because he'll never ask but if someone's already doing it he'll usually mention something
He was lying about his bones not hurting. They just don't hurt much more than they already did before the accident so he thinks it isn't worth mentioning. When William finds out he's going to be pissed
Refuses to take pain meds for anything, even when it's really bad
He has AFOs because the accident and the undiagnosed EDS resulted in some mild drop foot. It doesn't bother him much when running ironically but he trips over himself constantly if he's just walking around
He finds them uncomfortable so he doesn't wear them unless the others make him, which is usually right after he's fallen on his face
The stickers are all from him. He wants to make sure nobody feels sad when they look at their medical devices
Ashe (s1 finale spoilers)
Has diagnosed hEDS and is fighting the good fight to get Dakota and William to go get screened (William doesn't have it but she's pretty sure that his body doesn't do collagen right anymore so basically the same)
Was super deconditioned before she met the others since she couldn't go anywhere and she didn't get much of a chance to build muscle back up before she got trickstered
Has been using a cane regularly for years. She tried to hide it from the others when she first met them which worked until she dislocated her knee at a sleepover and had to call Mark to bring it over
Most knowledgeable and confident in her disability now that she knows the others don't care. The others are all pretty new to being disabled but she knows the ins and outs of the medical system and all the tricks
Still coming to terms with the damage that the trickster did to her body. He took full advantage of the hypermobility and she's suffering the consequences. Getting up in the morning is now a half hour process of reassembling everything that fell apart overnight
