unrelated to anything in headspace i think post judgement paeon should like. be Way More Tired because shes used to having so much energy stored to deal with the patients and everything and now she doesnt need so much so its like shes collapsed down a bit and has way too little energy and yadda yadda she has a cane and is getting used to figuring out a good balance of limits and the good she can do

honestly im never going to be comfortable with how every non-human and/or "stupid" character in jrwi gets the autism label. it happens with vyncent (ive seen characterization which applies for both), happens to gill (both apply), dakotas also victim to it (not inhuman mostly but he is labeled as a loud idiot by the way hes portrayed) like. i dunno im autistic and i can get a lot of these but theres something just... weird? to me? like is gillion really autistic or was he separated from his culture and doesnt understand this one? do you really see the alienation of vyncents even on his home land as autistic or did you just see how he interacts on prime and take that as a diagnosis?

jrwi is also no stranger to ableism, and ill take every opportunity and more to complain about the "short and stupid juice". making jokes about disability isnt inherently ableist (as in like, joking about having a disability, my best example is how whenever im super fixated on something i like going "thank god im autistic" or something to that extent, or someone with bpd calling it beautiful princess disorder), what IS ableist is turning disability to a joke. i dont think the amputations in riptide have been ableist (again, disability can be a joke, theres ways to not be a dick about it), but i do think calling a source of malnutrition which caused a developmental disability "short and stupid juice" is an act of ableism. i think its weird how little physical disability rep we seem to have (of course i could forget a lot of them and be wrong on this front) and that a lot of it Is used for jokes- not ableist in nature, but it is weird in my book.

i cannot speak much on the fandom (since scrolling fandom tags isnt something i often do) but if anybody wants to provide criticism of my points or throw in their own examples feel free to do so!!

Tell me a piece of gossip.: one of the first asks i did, but ill share another! in the first time, i vaguely mentioned a jrwi event runner who wasnt a fan of mixed labels. only reason i know was cause i was on vc playing with a couple people and mentioned how arthur benett was my bi-les awakening, which was relevant to the convo. as it turned out, they said that "multiple people expressed concerns about the comment i made" (my identity ? youre concerned that i like my label?) and asked me for clarification, thennn promptly told me that being a bi lesbian isnt a real thing. left that server QUICK lemme tell you (im not saying names bc i like being respectful, BUT i will say i do keep having to see them cause they are in condicord with their art. alas)

anyways my judgement mixed label post from a while ago was inspired by seeing their art a lot lol YOUR DOCTOR (paeon) IS PANACE AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT (obligatory i consider pan-ace to be a mixed label just due to what being pansexual and being asexual entails from my understanding, but i will accept if im wrong on things) theres the others but i loved pulling it on paeon bc its they fav iirc lol

Okay okay. I'm gonna focus on Vyncent for a sec. I'm a south asian poc, so Vyncent being canonically asian is p important to me! I don't get to see a lot of people like me represented in media, so despite how shittily it's been handled by the crew he's like. My guy!! I love him! I love that he reflects some of the alienation (literal lmao) that a lot of us experience and the way that different social norms can cause us to be socially awkward at times.

I'm going to hold off on yapping about how important Vyncent is to me for a minute to just say like. He's such a complex character. There's so much to talk about with him. Even if you want to look at romance, I think you could spend hours talking about how him being a person of color intersects with him being queer. Idk maybe it's just because I'm a poc that I know about how that can be complicated in a way that a lot of white people don't entirely grasp. But I just get so sad when I see people talk about Vyncent just as an extension of Will. Like don't get me wrong, Will is a neat character, but it sucks so bad to see people ignore all the complexity that Vyncent houses. People like that don't even explore what that relationship would look like from Vyncent's side. I'm sure he has!! Emotions?? Do you guys remember that we also have emotions?? About the people around us???

Anywho enough of me being an inarticulate weirdo thank you for your post I'm so happy to see people talking about this shit. I love this fandom sometimes but god the racism and misogyny is so hard to ignore. Oh and the fatphobia. Fuck that so hard. Lots of love /p thank you bye bye bye bye bye.

i am always happy to acknowledge that bad rep is still rep, and characters of bad rep can still be related to by others, not to mention vyncent is genuinely such an interesting character with a complex relationship to morality, heroism, humanity, and even forming relationships (like the alienation you mentioned) so to see him be so watered down is... bothersome, to say the least.

it isnt even that hes an extension of will at some points, sometimes hes just a meaningless plot device to let the white boy shine above (i mean, we always seem to view the pining from wills end, only seeing vyncent as the obvious pretty boy, as if hes just a cardboard cutout to look at, which i already ranted about lol)! its so annoying because even if it diminishes wills character, it kills vyncents character and its to a point where i dont like looking into jrwi main tags. will is interesting, but hes as interesting as a pc as any of the other pd characters! and vyncent! has! emotions! about! will! (even if i aim to make people think about the characters beyond contexts of romance and such, since people tend to use those as ways to put characters in boxes, thus my comments of "afamilial and aplatonic beam")
