“Walking”…”In the dark woods” she said, “among my soft-sleeping brothers and sisters. Across the high moors among the sweet-scented ghosts of my brothers and sisters long dead. Under the grey sky through the dreams and murmurs of my brothers and sisters yet to come.”
- Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
My submission for this year’s JSAMN Fanart Exchange! My match, @existential-bees, inspired me with the prompt “Childermass and ravens.”
I hope you like it! I used Sharpie and pencil and I was going for sort of a rough spilled-ink kind of aesthetic, which matches the sort of restrained chaos Childermass exudes. To me, he is (by the end of the series anyway) the only magic user who consistently shows control, but there’s clearly a wildness about him and I hoped to show that through the use of these ravens. Many thanks to @jsamnfanart for setting this up!
«As I was walking, oh, a' my lane
I spied twa corbies, they were makin' mane»

I've been remembering how to use markers, so.... 'tis a bit messy)

Definitely gonna aim for a crazier jonathan in my next attempt... (Still obsessed with this show...can’t believe it’s been 3 years - don’t worry, I do plan to read the book!)
More jsamn inspired art! One of my favourite quotes so far,
“Woods were ringed with a colour so soft, so subtle that it could scarcely be said to be a colour at all. It was more the idea of a colour - as if the trees were dreaming green dreams or thinking green thoughts.”
