Nene when she finds out about what happened to Aoi
JSHK 70 spoilers
I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT. I KNEW WE WERE GOING TO GET DARK HANAKO BACK, LIKE THIS WHOLE ARC WAS SET UP PERFECTLY ESPECIALLY TO PIT AKANE AND HANAKO AGAINST EACH OTHER.
Meanwhile, Teru is not helping AT ALL. He is a bit of a wild card because while he’s supposed to protect the living he wouldn’t do anything about Nene’s fate. But then is Aoi’s fate that she be sacrificed, for the ‘greater good’ of the school? And if so, because it’s a natural progression, will Teru stand by and let both Aoi and Nene die? Methinks though that if it’s between Hanako versus Akane, he’s siding with Akane.
But what about Kou?? Because he desperately wants to save Nene, but has a better moral compass than Hanako. But, but, Teru’s order to Akane was to help Kou out in the future? So how will these entangled loyalties play out?
Meanwhile, HANAKO, BAD HANAKO. Sure he may not have actively planned for Aoi’s and Nene’s lifespans to switch, and he may think he’s just granting Aoi’s wish, but he is taking advantage of the situation. Worst case scenario his actions from here if he does decide to sacrifice Aoi for Nene will make Nene WANT to hate him and never forgive him, because Nene would never condone this. It’s a lot worse than Picture Perfect Arc because no one had to die for Nene to live there, but this, this would be going too far. It’s like he didn’t learn, or even worse, got worse. I do not want Hanako to end up like Karuto no matter how much he loves Nene.
And my worst fears seem to have been confirmed. Based on what Teru said, it’s like Hanako abandoned his duty of protecting the school and the other living and is actively working to sabotage the other mysteries by taking their yorishiro which to an extent also affects their capability to protect the school. Teru could be an unreliable narrator, but Hanako’s plan of taking everyone’s yorishiro always struck me as odd. I really hope he has a good explanation.
The Clock Keepers arc is when we first learn about Nene’s lifespan. There’s also that connection to time. In that arc, Hanako refrained from getting No. 1’s yorishiro then because they might need it later. Now in this arc, there’s a foreboding feeling as Teru tells Akane that Hanako will be coming for his power next. There’s an emphasis on Nene’s and Aoi’s lifespans and the arc is all about death.
I can’t help but think we’ll get an epic battle betwen Hanako and Akane, with Kou and Teru as their reapective back-ups. After all of this is over though, I fear Hanako may get some sort of punishment from ‘kami-sama’ because of the chaos caused, as a parallel to the original one-shot.
Hey this may be a bit strange but could you give a summary of what happened in chapter 70 for me? I read it but i didn't understand 100% what happened.i find it difficult to understand things i resume reading or watching when there's a long period of time inbetween content.
Hi! Actually I have a lot of theories about this and I’ve also read a few interesting ones on twitter, so I’m going to mix all of these together and try to explain what happened in this chapter.
Hanako once said (I think in chapter 1 but I’m not sure) that the bigger is the wish the bigger is the price, or something like that. In the Picture Perfect arc, Yashiro made a really big wish and I think this time the price is someones life, in this case Aoi’s life.
Follow me now.
I think Hanako and N.6 made a deal: Hanako asked N.6 to kidnapped Aoi so she can switch places with Sumire. Benefits from the deal: N. 6 will finally be able to free Sumire from her “curse” and Hanako will be able to take from Aoi her remaining lifespan and give it to Yashiro.
This explains why Aoi couldn’t pass through the dark tunnel. Because she doesn’t have a lifespan anymore. Although I don’t think she died because she’s still in a boundary and not in the far shore.
I don’t know what to think about Teru. At first I thought he was an accomplice because he gave Aoi a “protection charm” which is similar to the one Sumire gave nene to swap their positions. Now I think that he’s really trying to save Aoi because, again, the bracelets are different and I also want to believe he’s a good guy.
Also I think Aoi knew about all of this, but the fact that she still tells Akane that she wants to go to the zoo and in other places with him is heartbreaking.
The first time I read the chapter I had a doubt: Now that Nene has Aoi’s lifespan, will she still be able to see Hanako? I don’t think she will be able to she him because in this panel Hanako says: “This will be farewell to Yashiro”.
Although this is just a theory I hope this helped you understanding more about the chapter ^^
Anyway, the chapter was heartbreaking and from now on I’m going to pretend that doesn't exist ;-;
pretty sure that’s when Aoi realises she’s dead. There’s no light at the end of the tunnel for her, and Eurydice cannot follow Orpheus out of the Far Shore.
And then she starts apologising, and trying to lead up to telling Akane she likes him.
(Will he still be able to enter back twice with an injury like that? Who will he make a deal with? Or, will Aoi?)
THEY CAME BACK.. ITS BEEN SIX MONTHS.. THANK YOU
DID AOI JUST DIE????? WHAT THE FUCK
Another TBHK meme after Chapter 70
JSHK 70 Reactions and More Questions
Hanako as the traitor theory? (seemingly check) (DARK HANAKO) (Speaking of, it’s a bit dark how pure and guileless Nene looks in this. She just wanted to help, while Hanako just wants to help her.)
Yashiro was supposed to be the kannagi which was why she was fated to die? (check)
and
Hanako would sacrifice Aoi in order for Nene to avoid her fate? (check)
Hanako, possibly a god? (seemingly check)
I think it may be something about the Japanese language, but I’m not sure how Teru saying ‘pillars’ means he’s implying there are gods among the seven mysteries.
No. 6 was the guardian of the Akane girls who were supposed to be sacrificed, and the Akane family raised human sacrifices? (check) (Again if so, dark, because Sumire fell in love with her jailor and No. 6 fell in love with his captive. HanaNene Picture Perfect Arc parallels anyone?)
Teru says the Akane tradition is old news, so what exactly happened to change things to make it that it was no longer an Akane girl who would be a kannagi, but instead one Yashiro Nene, and what does this have to do with Teru calling her ‘special’ in the mokke zombie chapter? Also, did it happen during Amane and Tsukasa’s time because Hanako was blatantly lying in ch. 68 when he said nothing happened.
I DID NOT WANT ANY OF THESE THEORIES TO COME TRUE.
I really want to be mad at Hanako and scold him if possible, but this...
This is a broken smile. It’s so hollow and empty, and then I remember what it was like for Hanako before Yashiro.
Look! Even Hakujoudai is worried about him and Nene, as if asking him if this is what he really wants. (And what I would give for a Hakujoudai centric chapter to get an idea of what he?she?they?it? thinks about Hanako, Nene, and all of this). Meanwhile, Hanako is just so tired. He just slumps down, listless, no longer able to hold himself up and pretend. ;_;
