Since I was 17 years old my mentor-mom, Amiko, has been one of my favorite women. She has shown me levels of phenomenal womanhood and given me inspiration to get to my highest and best self. This month she was honored as the 2019 Alumna of the Year by her alma mater @jacksonvillestateuniversity! Amiko’s professional accomplishments, support of JSU, and her influence on the universities’s Black students and alumni made her ideal for this award. She has been an exemplar embodiment of leadership, scholarship, service, and paying it forward through her work as a member of Delta Sigma Theta and JSU’s alumni association. Let’s just say she’s dope on paper and in real life! While she has never done it for recognition, intentionality to be and inspire excellence and be a change agent should never go unnoticed. Welcome to the fan club, JSU, because they now see what those of us that know and love Amiko have always seen... a Black Girl Magic OG! I’m so proud of you, Queen Amiko!
