2015 Pacific Games
It has pretty much been a month since I left home and began the travels representing Guam in swimming. I spent the first two weeks of July in Papua New Guinea for the Pacific Games assisting the head coach and managing my athletes. It was a last minute trip and I was given four days to get paperwork and everything prepared before departing the island. In those two weeks I learned more about my athletes but I learned a lot about myself. This time around, I didn’t attend as a swimmer, but as an assistant coach/team manager. I was more patient, understanding, and catered to the needs of my athletes. I valued my athletes more than myself. They came before me. I saw and reflected upon myself and I can say I’m proud of myself. It definitely wasn’t an easy trip but everything about the experience was worth the early mornings, late nights, long lines to eat, and nightly meetings. I couldn’t be prouder of my athletes and all they accomplished and I couldn’t be part of a better team, my home, Guam!
