What to Expect While “Journey”-ing!

We are so excited for our beloved holiday fundraiser, Journey to the North Pole™, to kick off at the end of this month!  We have sold quite a bit of tickets for the events in both North Conway and Lincoln and are so excited to see all of our visitors! While this year has to be a little different, our goal is that this will be the most magical and safest, Journey to the North Pole™ possible!  To make this event as safe as we can, we have implemented a number of safety protocols for our guests, volunteers, and staff and we want to make sure everyone is aware of the protocols! First and foremost, properly-worn masks will be required for guests throughout the entirety of the event with the exception of when seated on the train.  Staff and volunteers will also be wearing masks throughout the event as well!  Guests will be boarded onto the trains by specific train cars and all guests will have assigned seats this year.  It is important that any guests traveling with another party let us know so we can arrange the seating to meet any group needs.  It is also imperative that any guests with mobility issues or handicap needs let us know prior to their departure date.   Once arriving at the North Pole, guests will disembark the train in smaller groups rather than all at once to promote social distancing.  This may mean guests might incur a longer wait on the train but everyone will get to experience the magic of the North Pole!  If you have any questions about this enchanting event, please feel free to give us a call!  Tickets and detailed safety protocols for the Journey to the North Pole™ are available online at www.journeytothenorthpole.org!

Spread Holiday Cheer with Us!!

If you are looking for a fun way to spread Christmas cheer this upcoming holiday season, then look no further because we’ve got you covered!  We have a number of great volunteer opportunities and paid positions available in both North Conway and Lincoln for our beloved holiday fundraiser, Journey to the North Pole™! For volunteering, sign-ups for Journey to the North Pole™ are currently open!  We are accepting up to 12 elf volunteers each night in each location.  Volunteers can sign up to either be a Guide Elf, who will lead visitors throughout the North Pole, or a Stage Elf, who will “make toys”, sing songs, and dance in Santa’s Workshop!  Regardless of which position you would volunteer for, it will be an amazing experience! If you are looking to help out with this fundraiser and can commit to attending every night of Journey to the North Pole™, you may want to consider applying for a paid position with our organization.  We are looking to hire a few dedicated staff in both locations, North Conway and Lincoln, for positions which include, Guide Elves, Stage Elves, and on-board Chefs! Chefs on-board the train will get to assist in seating visitors, entertaining guests, and delivering special gifts throughout the experience! Sign up to Volunteer!

We have missed seeing our volunteers so much throughout this year but hope everyone has stayed healthy and safe!  Our dedicated volunteers are the reason our events are so successful and we know it will be no different this year for the beloved holiday fundraiser, Journey to the North Pole™. Sign-ups for the magical event in both North Conway and Lincoln are open and you will notice a few changes. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of adjustments were necessary to ensure safety for all of our guests and volunteers.  One of the most noticeable changes made has been in regards to the chefs on board the train.  We have had to reduce the number of chefs on the train so we will not be offering volunteer sign-ups for those positions.  The reason for this change is that hot chocolate will not be served on the train this year.  We apologize to those who volunteer as chefs for us each and every year but hope you understand that this change was necessary. One of the other changes you will notice is that there are two types of elf positions to choose from, either a Guide Elf or a Stage Elf! Guide Elves play an extremely important role as well as they get to greet visitors from the train and guide them through the North Pole.  Guests are going to be separated into smaller groups this year to help maintain social distancing so Guide Elves will be essential in keeping the groups together throughout the event!   Stage elves get to bring Santa’s Workshop to life by making toys, singing songs, and dancing!   If you have any questions about volunteering for Journey to the North Pole™, please reach out to Katie Young at [email protected] or feel free to call our office at 603-356-9980.  We are looking forward to seeing you this holiday season!

Next Tuesday!!

Journey to the North Pole™ is Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s largest and longest running fundraiser!  This magical family fun event is going to take place this holiday season with a few changes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic our country is facing and all available tickets will be opening up to the public this coming Tuesday, September 1st!  Know that due to COVID protocols our capacities are greatly reduced, therefore there are fewer tickets available. We have received a number of questions regarding what safety protocols will be in place for the event and we want to assure all of our guests, that everyone’s safety is our highest priority! To provide the safest atmosphere for all of our guests, staff, volunteers, and of course, Santa, we will be implementing a few new policies.  First, we will be following all CDC and State of NH guidelines throughout the extent of the event, meaning social distancing when possible and guests will be asked to wear masks.  We are asking that masks be worn at all times with the only exception being while in your seat on the train.  We ask for the safety of all that masks be worn while moving around the train station, while boarding and moving about the train, and while at the North Pole including while inside Santa’s Workshop. We also ask that when picking up your physical tickets at the train stations, that only one member of your party comes inside the station at a time.  There will be separate lines and spaces allowing for social distancing while waiting to board your train.  On the train, you will notice reduced capacities in both event locations as well as appropriate social distancing.  Sanitation and cleaning teams will be on board between excursions as well to ensure a clean and safe environment.  Also, in Santa’s Workshop, we will be asking families to safely space out and be considerate of each other. We are working hard to make sure everyone stays healthy and safe this holiday season!
