Each and every Friday night through September, you can relax and enjoy live music right here at the Theater in the Wood!  We had such a great turn out for our opening band, Adam Ezra Group, and are looking forward to an incredible series! The Sunset Concert Series continues this Friday with a newcomer to the Mount Washington Valley, the Duppy Conquerors!  The Duppy Conquerors are dedicated to the spirit of Bob Marley’s Music.  They have been making a name as the premier tribute to Bob Marley in New England. They aren’t a “tribute band” trying to look and dress like Bob Marley and The Wailers; they are musicians who respect their sound and spirit. With nearly 3/4 of their repertoire under their belts, The Duppy Conquerors are the quintessential testimonial to Bob Marley. Tickets are on sale now!  Beverages and popcorn will be available for purchase at the performance and all net proceeds support Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Summer Bookmobile!  The Bookmobile can be spotted on Tuesdays and Thursdays visiting Bartlett, North Conway, Lisbon, Littleton, and Lancaster!  Make sure to check out the Bookmobile schedule and find more information about the Sunset Concert Series at www.believeinbooks.org.

Live Music Returns to the Theater in the Wood!

The Sunset Concert Series presented by Moat Mountain Brewing Company held at the Theater in the Wood kicks things off with the one and only Adam Ezra Group!

INTERVALE, NH – Starting next Friday, July 16th, the Sunset Concert Series presented by Moat Mountain Brewing Co. takes center stage at the Theater in the Wood!  Doors open at 7:00 pm for the opening night featuring Adam Ezra Group! Talk to any Adam Ezra Group fan around the country and they’ll tell you that each AEG performance is a one-of-a-kind, community-driven experience, propelled by the spirit of the people in front of the stage. For both fans and band members alike, an AEG concert is a rally to live life with intensity and soak in the moments we share with one another.   The following Friday, July 24th, the series welcomes newcomers to the Mt. Washington Valley, The Duppy Conquerors.  The Duppy Conquerors have been making a name as the premier tribute to Bob Marley in New England. They aren’t a “tribute band” trying to look and dress like Bob Marley and The Wailers; they are musicians who respect their sound and spirit. Then on Friday, July 30th, come celebrate Jerry Garcia and more with August First.  August First is a Massachusetts based project that celebrates the many musical incarnations of Jerry Garcia and more. These musicians found themselves particularly drawn to the stylings of Jerry and David Grisman. August First is an acoustic arrangement, full in sound, and layered with sweet harmonies. Each Friday night through Friday, September 24th, rock out with a different band!  Tickets may be purchased online up until showtime the day of each performance.  General seating for each concert is $19 or $27 for Premium seating.  Full Sunset Concert season passes are also available for purchase! What a Great Fun Run!

This past weekend, we welcomed over 100 families to the 100-Acre Wood here in Intervale for the 9th Annual Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Kids Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land!  It was such a wonderful day we acknowledge and thank everyone who helped with the success! First, thank you to all of our participants who joined us on Sunday morning!  We had excellent weather and such a great turnout!  Registration went smoothly and the kiddos had a great time running through the trail system!  We hope everyone had an amazing day at Story Land afterwards! Second, thank you to our presenting supporters, Memorial Hospital and Story Land!  Memorial Hospital provides scholarships to local children and covers the cost of participating in this race and Story Land of course offers free admission to all participants of the Fun Run!  We greatly appreciate our partnership with both! Finally, thank you to our incredible and dedicated volunteers who spent their Sunday morning helping with registration, parking cars, and guiding and cheering on our racers on their individual courses!  Without all of our volunteers, this event would not have been the success it was! All net proceeds from the Fun Run go directly to the BIBLF Summer Bookmobile which will be hitting the road in July!  Thank you so much for your continued support and we will be looking forward to another amazing Fun Run in 2022!!

Looking to Volunteer?

Here at Believe in Books Literacy Foundation, we rely heavily on our outstanding and incredible group of dedicated volunteers to help us throughout the year!  Last year, we were unable to see our wonderful volunteers, but this year we have so many great events coming for the Summer!  If you are interested in volunteering, we hope you consider joining Believe in Books Literacy Foundation for some of the following events! First up, on July 1st, our Children’s Summer Theatre Series presented by our very own Believe in Books Youth Theatre Campers begins!  Campers will show off their skills they’ve cultivated every other Thursday at 4:15 pm.  The Theater in the Wood will open to the public at 4:00 pm and we are looking for volunteers to assist with making popcorn and seating our guests!  We ask volunteers to arrive around 3:45 pm and stay until the end of the performance. If you are able to assist us on July 1st, 15th, 30th, August 12th, or August 20th (a special Friday performance), please consider signing up! Beginning on Friday, July 16th, the Sunset Concert Series takes center stage on the grass behind the Theater in the Wood.  We are looking for volunteers to assist as ushers and greeters for each concert throughout the Summer.  Every night we will have a different band on the stage and we will need help to manage the crowd!  Masks will be required for guests, staff, and volunteers. We ask that volunteers arrive at 6:30 pm and stay until approximately 9:30 pm or until the show is over.  Volunteers get the perk of enjoying the shows for FREE! Don’t Miss the FUN RUN!

On Sunday, June 13th, kiddos will be getting ready to get on their marks, get set, and GO for the 2021 Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Kids Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land! The race will be held in a new venue, just down the road from Story Land, but participants of the race will still get into the beloved amusement park for FREE that day! Participants will join in the fun at the 100-Acre Wood in Intervale on Sunday morning between 9:00 am and 10:30 am and will be directed to their appropriate start area.  There will be different courses throughout the property for different age groups.  Heats will begin as racers arrive to keep groups to a minimum and to practice social distancing.  Racers will then be able to head over to Story Land with their free pass to enjoy a day at the park!  Parents will need to purchase and reserve their tickets to the park for that day ahead of time as only the participants will receive a free ticket. Registration for this fun-filled day is required in advance and will close on June 1st.  There will be no day-of registration so please be sure to plan ahead.  We are so extremely excited to be able to hold this event in person and cannot wait to see everyone!  As you may remember, for our 8th year we were unable to meet in person for this annual fundraiser.  Typically, a few hundred kids participate so we are looking forward to a safe and exciting Sunday morning the Wood! Everything we do here at Believe in Books Literacy Foundation supports our mission to advance healthy development of young minds through literacy programs that encourage early reading, imagination, and physical activity!  From all of our fundraising events to our memberships and our 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup, everything offered goes to supporting our mission. When you take the time to visit the 100-Acre Wood or the Theater in the Wood, we hope you realize you are supporting one of our amazing free literacy programs for our local and surrounding communities.  Our literacy programs include Books from Birth, Healthy Readers, Outreach Reading, the Summer Bookmobile, and our Bookbag Program!  Each of these programs are designed to give children access to books either at home, in doctor’s offices, in school, or even while on Summer break! Volunteers Needed!

Are you interested in an amazing volunteering opportunity? Believe in Books Literacy Foundation has a fun-filled event open for volunteers! On Sunday, June 13th BIBLF is hosting the Kids’ Fun Run!  Typically held each year at Story Land, the 2021 event will be held here in the 100-Acre Wood!  This means the race will be slightly different than previous years’ events.  Having the race in the 100-Acre Wood will help increase safety and social distancing but will also require the need for a few more volunteers! Volunteers can either choose to help out with registration, greet our guests as they pull into the property, assist as a parking attendant, or cheer and guide our racers on course!  Volunteers are asked to arrive around 8:00 am on Sunday, June 13th and will be needed until the end of race. Volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and a ticket to Story Land for that day! The Believe in Books Literacy Foundation team is so appreciative of the volunteer support we receive for all of our fundraising events and will be looking forward to seeing you again this summer!  Sign-ups are open at www.believeinbooks.org!  THANK YOU!

LAST WEEKEND FOR THE SUGAR SHACK!

This weekend will be your last chance to stop by and visit the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack before it closes for the season!  It has been so wonderful to see so many visitors enjoying and learning about the magic of maple syrup over the course of this past sugaring season! So far this season, we have enjoyed over 1600 visitors masked up and socially distant!  We hope to make this last weekend the best!  Not only can you visit the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack but we will also be celebrating Earth Day!   Join us between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm beginning on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 25th for the festivities!  Children can participate in a Nature Scavenger Hunt while also getting to enjoy a ¾ mile walk on a special Storybook Trail featuring Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax”! Each participant will receive a 100-Acre Wood Coloring and Activity Book and an Earth Day Goodie Bag!  The Lorax himself will be making special appearances on Thursday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 24th!  There will also be a table w set up with free books for all visitors and of course we will be giving out warm samples of our delicious 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup. Make sure to stop by the Sugar Shack in the 100-Acre Wood this weekend!
