I’m sorry I cant get behind Jane and Rafael. It’s not because I miss Michael (but damn do I miss him), it’s because he’s so incredibly insecure and manipulative to Jane and the fact that y’all don’t see it and/or excuse it is sad.

JTV Raf vs Michael rant (I’m team Raf)
I’m so mad!!!!! And just very very conflicted. I don’t like Michael and will never like Michael, he’s such a boring character imo, and I just hate the way the show pits him and Raf against each other. And don’t get me wrong I see the appeal of his relationship with Jane, I get it and I was fine with them getting married (didn’t like it, but I was happy for her). I just feel like ever since the beginning the show has been painting Michael as this sweet innocent guy, and then sort of washing over all the negative things he does. And since his death they’ve really doubled down on that cause you know “we can’t speak ill of the dead”. And now that he’s back they are still painting him in this way and therefore painting Raf as a “bad guy” of sorts. Like I will be the first to admit that Raf is not the best person out there but tbh that’s kinda what I love about him, he feels real! He’s a deeply emotional person who struggles with those feelings because he’s never felt safe being emotional around anyone. Yet the show paints him in a bad light whenever he gets upset. When Jane gets mad about something and goes off it’s empowering or comedic, but when Rafael does he’s being selfish and a jerk. Like... ugh I have so many freaking thoughts and I’m just so annoyed with the way this show is going because they could have taken a great opportunity to show Jane in two great relationships (first with Michael and a tragic end, then with Raf and maybe a more hopeful end), but instead they thought “hey let’s do a frickin love triangle with a dead guy, the people will love that!”
