These may be my last words or the last time I write a post, so I will not forgive anyone who sees this post and does not support me with a single word and ignores me.

I write this while writhing in pain, my eyes constantly brimming with tears. I can't bear this anymore. I'm utterly exhausted from severe anemia, the fainting spells I'm experiencing, and the exorbitant price of the medication I need.

All I care about is getting rid of the fainting spells I experience and the constant pain. Please help me buy my medication so my body can recover and I can continue living.

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

I don't know if staff is looking or if the feedback would matter, but seriously, this is a terrible change that would kill tumblr as we know it. Please, don't roll it out.

look, I can endure any kind of UI changes that are supposed to help tumblr-rookies to understand how this works. They may be a nuisance, but that's ok, we have x-kit or we can get used to buttons being here or there.

But this. This changes the data architecture. This changes the SINGLE THING that makes tumblr the "... yes and" website. This KILLS THE COLLABORATIVE POSTING THAT MAKES THIS SITE DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE OTHER MEDIA PLATFORMS.

Tumblr has explicitly said in the past that they do not look at comments on their updates posts. You have to PUT IN A SUPPORT TICKET AND SELECT FEEDBACK FROM THE DROPDOWN

The web is fucked up, it's borderline unusable, but the apps haven't been updated yet.

PSA: For fan works, reblog and like from OP

Tumblr is rolling out a new reblog/notes system that completely disregards creators. In their new system, they're taking a twitter-style approach where reblogs will have their own notes that DO NOT contribute to the original post's notes.

Because of this, creators will no longer be able to see an accurate display of likes/reblogs/etc. This is completely altering the way feedback and responses to works are going to be received on this website.

If you come across a fan work that you enjoy, please take the extra step to go to OPs original post, and leave your comment/like/reblog there. Or go one step further and send an ask to OP directly to tell them what you liked!

I really hope Tumblr staff reverses course and reverts to the original reblog system for the sake of the large base of creators who use this site to share their works, but until then, please be considerate and make sure the creators here see/feel the love.

I'm so scared for Fadel. His family keeps finding him unconscious on the ground, terrified he has died from starvation. Fadel and his family have already barely been able to afford enough food to stay alive, even while forgoing necessary medication. The story of a 35 year old novelist and her 15 year old niece learning to live together.

It's heavily implied in the manga that Makio (the novelist) is neurodivergent.

It's even commented episodes later, although the manga never specifies what's Makio's condition exactly. (She does get accommodations from friends and other people she works with once she explains herself).

The manga also has side characters who are explicitly lgbt+, there's a lesbian, an aro/ace woman and a non binary person. They're all presented very respectfully.

I find Frieren's demons fascinating because what's being posited here is that demons are objectively always evil because they evolved from mimics, a creature that exists to trick and eat humans. The obvious difference being that a mimic is a non-sentient animal, while the series' demons very clearly are sentient people. We're supposed to take the series at its word when it states that the demons simply have no internality, no capacity to even desire to do good that doesn't ultimately lead to suffering and pain in the long run. But we see that they have individual personalities, preferences, and desires. They're clearly capable of independent thought, they can even feel fear and sorrow. They will just always invariably choose to hurt people. It's contradictory. Arbitrary. It's working backwards. A desire to justify Tolkien's objectively evil orcs, unironically, in current year. We're supposed to believe that they're more animal than person, while consistently being shown that they're people. It just doesn't make sense. It's circular logic. An equation that just returns the wrong answer.

So Demons are people that evolved from an asocial species. Interacting with people that evolved from hypersocial species.

So I remember there's a storyline with a Demon that tries to understand the whole friendship thing. I believe he winds up betraying the human friend in the end, but when the fight is decided, he goes over to die next to that friend (noting, he doesn't quite know why he's doing that), rather than anything else.

And even when they try, they're not wired to understand the underlying dynamics/values/relationships, so they fuck up in really fucked up ways from our point of view.

The conflict is basically, they have no aversion to violence, don't have pack/herd/tribe instincts, and that often leads to tragedy even when everyone is doing their best to make things work. (I'm reminded of Darker than Black)

Theoretically could Demons and Humans live in peace with one another? Yes. Most Demons don't care enough about doing so to put in the effort of learning how to do so, and the level of oversight and magic necessary to keep everyone safe is not easy to put together. Especially without a payout that everyone believes is possible.

And there's a lot of trauma from people who've lost loved ones, or witnessed some really blatantly horrifying deaths, and have no trust left. There's a flashback scene where a Himmel spares a Demon Child who is adopted by a human family and raised with love and care. Demon Child kills the family, save their daughter, who she gives to the family whose daughter she killed to make up for it.

Like from a species that isn't social, and doesn't have family relationships, I can see the logic. As a member of a hypersocial species that does, it's horrifying. And that's a really interesting conflict to explore.
