Among the many deaths from COVID-19 so far the hardest for me so far has been that of Juan Jimenez. And this is mostly because I didn’t know his name yet he profoundly influenced my art long before I started to draw regularly. I loved his covers and art in Heavy Metal magazine which I occasionally picked up when I had some extra money (it was expensive but always worth it). It’s only been after his death that I realized how much I’d absorbed of his art into my own seeing and work.
