Born in Havana, and now based in New Jersey and New York, Travieso credits his love of color to the scarcity of resources in his home country, and his environmental compassion for the vulnerable to Cuba’s persecution of dissenters. Best known for disorienting work with “constant spacial interruption” Travieso’s paintings often include seemingly computer-generated elements as commentary on a natural world “forever at odds with the perpetuity of artificial, manmade technologies.” This colorful composition at @FernsCocktailsLB on Almond Ave at 4th St was created for Pow!Wow!
