Pastors Duaghter x Judd Birch
Blasphemy, Religious kink if you squint, drugs and alcohol (canon typical substances, corruption kink, stalking, breaking and entering (just entering tbh),.
Almost everyone in Westchester was a poser. Teenagers who tried to be edgier than they were, but shit their pants when they saw a drop of blood littered the streets. Parents who pretended they cared beyond their own indiscretions. Judd Birch was lucky enough to have some of the few parents who cared, even if it was way too much.
Magdalena Smith moved to Westchester halfway through the summer before her last hughschool year. Her father, Phillip, was a pastor who had been informed that the Westchester Baptist Church was now empty, the previous pastor having been arrested for... certain transgressions. Her mother left shortly after Maggie's second birthday.
Magdalena herself, was stuck. She was always the golden girl, the good girl who attended church two days a week, and taught bible school to the elementary kids. She was also the girl who snuck out of her bedroom window, crept into the silence of rural Maryland to smoke a joint and pet the cows who grazed freely in her neighbors field. After these late night escapes, which happened atleast five times a week, she would kneelbud her bed and beg the Father for her forgiveness. She didnt know, logically what she was apologizing for, she would continue to do it, which maybe made her feel more guilty.
On the first night in their new home, Magdalena's father told her he would be sleeping in the church. He would be busy trying to get things ready with the hope of re-opening on sunday. She felt a weight come off her when she sat in her new house, alone. She had never lived in a town like this. It wasnt a city, but it was far more populated and close knit then living on the farm was.
It was six pm when she had decided she had unpacked enough for the day. She grabbed a bit of cash out of the envelope her father kept in the kitchen drawer for dinner. He put it there the minute they had moved in, knowing he was away enough at night for his daughter to need it.
She grabbed her lanyard and slipped on her shoes. When the fresh air hit her face she looked at the driveway, contemplating if she should take her car. She decided against it. It was better to learn her way by walking around. She passed by her neighbors slowly. It was a big, light blue home with a bright red door. There was a double garage and a big basketball net above the doors.
It looked homey from the outside, she summarized. She continued walking, looking at each house and imagining the lives that were happening inside of them. Magdalena wasnt particularly depressed. She had a good life. Her dad was a good man, he loved her dearly, even if he was a little overbearing with his rules and unseen in his own home, but he loved her, and vice versa.
After a five minute walk she made her way to a fork in the road. Left led to a row of stores and establishments, and the right was more houses and a small plaza. She walked left. She passed by building after building until she finally reached a Chick-Fil-A. Good enough.
She ate in the resturaunt, praying silently to herself before digging in. When she was done, she decided to grab a couple essential groceries from the Walgreens across the street.
She browsed the halls to kill time, holding an empty basket. There were only a couple people in the store, and as she turned down the aisle for household and cleaning supplies, she didnt really notice the lanky, black haired boy bent down inspecting rope. She passed by him easily, but when she was almost at the end of the aisle she backtracked a little bit with an audible but quiet "shoot!" She needed a box cutter to open more packed stuff.
She looked over the options, and picked a utilitarian, black and red one that cost nine dollars. "Whats a girl like you doing with a blade?"
She jumped and gasped in surprise before she turned around to face who she saw to be the tall boy. "Its for- uhm I just moved here. I have a lot of boxes." The boy made a 'tsk' noise and took the packaged item out of her hand, reaching to put it back and grabbing a different one to replace it.
"That one would work shitty on tape. This one's better. Cheaper too." And then he turned away. Before he could completely walk off Magdalena snapped out of her confused daze and called back to him.
"Thank you so much!" And then muttered to herself, almost dumbly. "I wonder who he is, so cool that he knows that sorta thing."
Magdalena continued to see that boy through the summer. In alleyways as she passed by, in an almost empty parking lot with a few other people, and finally, walking out of her neighbors house. She wasnt sure if he lived there, but he definitely knew the owners.
By the end of the summer, she figured he definitely lived there, as almost every time she left her house, she'd see him coming out too. She hadnt really talked to anyone, except a couple older ladies who started attending the church, and a girl named Julia.
She met her when the girl was taking pictures infront of the church in the evening. Magdalena had been helping her father finish up for the day, he was sleeping there again tonight. They girls hit it off instantly, and when Julia offered Maggie a joint, they crept into the wooded area behind the church and smoked it together.
On the first day of school, she woke up extra early to get to ready for classes. When she was ready she had curled her blonde locks, applied makeup, and dressed in a long, light blue skirt, cream coloured tank top and matching cardigan, and a light blue paisley head scarf. She finished by adjusting her cross necklace.
Her first class of the day was AP English. She was upset to learn she didnt know anyone, even in passing, on this class. She got there early enough to snag a seat by herself, but as the crowds started pouring in, a tall red head boy sat beside her. During rollcall she learned his name was Luke.
Her classes were boring until Cosmetology. It was a small class of fifteen kids, and Julia was in it. She had never heard of being able to take a cosmetology course in highschool, so when she applied at Westchester High, she jumped at the opportunity.
That class was just before lunch, and Julia invited Maggie to sit with her and her boyfriends friends during lunch. Not knowing anyone else, she agreed and trailed behind the black haired girl to the cafeteria.
Julia led her to a table of what most people would consider 'misfits'. Six people at the table and all had dyed hair, piercings, tattoos, or dressed in a way that was 'not normal'. Maggie didn't even blink as Julia sat beside them, pulling her to sit next to her. She only started to get awkward when she realized across the table was that boy who had helped her pick out a box cutter, fiddling with a switch blade, looking right at her.
"Hey guys this is Maggie. Maggie this is Luke, my boyfriend, Rachel, Her boyfriend Kurt, his brother Val, thats Judd, nice very creepy Judd, and thats Jason. Usually two others sit with us, Kaden, and Ethan. They got detention." Julia pointed to each person, and they all did their own little wave at the girl.
"Hi guys, Im Magdalena Smith, Maggie is easier. Moved here in the summer"
"Who the fuck names their kid Magdalena?"
"Who the fuck names their kid Valtrex?" Julia shot back.
"Well, now that you're here," Luke stood up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and reaching for his girlfriends, grabbing hers too. "We can go get into some fun."
"Luke im not skipping on the first day." Julia whined slightly, but still followed as Luke started moving, Maggie joined as everyone else did.
"I didnt say anything about skipping."
They ended up near the back of the school, Maggie assumed it was the smoking pit of her new school as the boys started opening their backpacks and pulling out smelly containers. Maggie stood awkwardly against the side of the building as everyone passed around joints and cigarettes and vapes.
"Here." She turned behind her to see Judd holding a joint out to her.
"Uhm, its okay I dont really-"
"He's cool Maggie, he won't lace you." Julia laughed, snuggling under her boyfriends arm as they shotgunned their joint.
She smiled at the tall boy. "Thanks."
She saw Judd again after lunch in art class. He was sitting in the very back corner. The class was still almost empty, kids looking for their classes or still walking back from lunch. She sat in the middle row on the far side.
"Come here." He told her. She was the only other person in the room, even the teacher was standing outside the door looking for stragglers. "No, bring your bag." He repeated. She listened. He moved his bag from the seat beside him and put it on the floor, kicking the chair our for her.
"Sit here." She wasnt expecting that. He didn't seem like the type to make friends quickly or sit with strangers during class. He seemed creepy. Still, she sat beside him, taking her pencil case and waterbottle out.
"Thanks." She muttered. The rest of class was silent, but she saw him watching her from her peripherals. Halfway through class, Maggie got a text from Julia asking if she could come over after school. She said yes.
At the end of the day, Maggie met Julia at the front doors, she was kissing Luke goodbye and standing beside Judd. "Hey, Judd's gonna drive us, hes going that way anyways." Maggie smiled at the taller boy, and he just stared at her.
"Thank you!" She would say when she finally left his car, waiting for Julia as she stayed back to say something to Judd. When they finally got into Maggies room, Julia asked for a water.
As someone who was taught to love her neighbor, it didn't even cross Maggies mind that leaving someone she barely knew in her room might not have been idea, she didnt know any better. And Julia knew she didnt know any better, so while Maggie was gone she slipped open her window and inserted a tiny window jammer Judd had given her in the car. That would make it easier for Judd to get in later. If necessary, of course.
And it was necessary! That same night, she dropped her stuffed bunny on the ground. Judd knew from other nights of observing that she always woke up a few hours after dropping it in a panic, to avoid that he was able to slip in her room and pick the little pink bunny up.
Before he put it back where it belonged, he walked around the room. Her desk was clean and organized, school books and a pink bible on a built in shelf apart of it. Her room was covered in tiny knick knacks, some memories of Maryland, some just silly things she picked up over the years. He smirked at the cross she had above her bed, no body on it but it still seemed to be watching her.
While he was in there, he swiped a small humanoid deer figurine off her bookshelf. It was standing with a couple others deers, and also four chipmunks, with a little house. (Its a calico critter)
Finally, he gently peeled back her blanket and slipped her bunny back in beside her, noting the tiny camisole and short set she wore to bed. Then he slipped back out of her window, and continued watching for another hour.
Maggie didnt notice that figurine missing for awhile. She didnt notice her window or her new observer either. She did notice nights in Westchester started to feel a lot safer.
