Are there any BL actor pairs that you weren't all that into at first, but then they did a show where they both really shone, both as individual characters and together, that made you feel much softer towards the two of them and helped you appreciate their earlier work together more?
I ask because I'm madly in love with Fadelstyle, and, while I wouldn't say I disliked Joongdunk in their other series, I don't remember finding them all that interesting. But they fit these characters and this dynamic in a way that feels a lot more natural than in the other shows they've done, and are absolutely fascinating to me. Because of that, I went and rewatched their other shows and found myself liking those shows more than I did the first time.
BL Pairs I Didn't Like at First But Grew to Love
What a fun question, yay!
Hum I think I am a little different than you in that I will take against 1/2 of a pair often, and then be not sure until convinced otherwise. Like Sea of JimmySea REALLY had to prove his metal to me, since I'm a big Dr Jimmy fan, and who could possible be Worthy? But now I'm quite pleased with him and them.
Since I never have pair allegiance. I'm never bothered by the breaking up of a pair. So I think building a fondness comes differently for me, since I usually start contemplating who I'd rather see them with, or whether they genuinely have good chemistry out the gate (e.g. G4 & GreatInn).
JamFilm spring to mind.
They've been around a long time but I didn't ever jive with Jam. I thought To Sir With Love was campy fun, but Film outclassed Jam on that screen and in that show (as, frankly, he usually does.) Still, I feel like they knocked it out the part with Laws of Attraction. The roles better suited their respective styles without jarring the narrative. And while they'll never be my favorite pair, I did like them better because of Laws.
That said, I'd love to see Film with someone else. Max for example.
And JudoFluke.
I am an OG fan of UWMA so I was slightly suspicious when Fluke rebranded, BUT I gotta say I think Judo is a better actor than Ohm, and Make a Wish was a lovely (and FUN!) little show. I'm actually excited for their upcoming projects together. I hope they get funded.

Looks like we'll be getting not only one but two JudoFluke projects from Waga Creative next year - and they're both based on novels by Sammon.
In Lost on the River, Fluke is the doctor and Judo a record producer. And not only that - there's a third person on the cover. 👀
So apparently we're getting a second season of Make a Wish which is wonderful news because I really like JudoFluke and I enjoyed the first season a lot.
But also they didn't give this show any kind of international release and I had to hunt down individual episodes in bad video quality with fan subs (and what would we do without fansubbers? 🙏). I remember watching the last couple of eps without any subs at all because presumably even the fansubbers felt slighted.
This is such a cute and fun show and I hope it gets a wider release this time - maybe even with a proper re-release of the first season. 🙏
