❝ make no mistake, ziggy berman. sunnyvale will be kicking you and the rest of your shadysider friends' asses in color war tonight. we won't be holding back. ❞ blair says, tightening her ponytail and squaring her shoulders. she was competitive and she was going to go hard. // @judyblumed

the summer of ‘78 would go down as the worst summer of all time. of course, some had it worse than others. a lot worse. now that camp nightwing was being torn down, being jobless was the least of liv’s worries. there was no way in hell she would be able to step foot on the same grass soaked with the blood of her friends, of innocent campers. that place was haunted forever, good riddance.
ziggy’s hospital room told the same story of loss, just painted with different colors. whereas that night as camp was dark and turbulent, room 252 was too bright, too still, too sterile. ziggy looked like shit, but that wasn’t the kind of thing you said to someone who just went through what she did, even if they were surrounded by balloons, flowers, teddy bears and other ‘get well’ junk. “ hey kid. ”
a toe hesitantly crosses the threshold of the room, a hint of a smile on her lips. in her arms was a shoebox filled with candy and books. if joan were here, she would have been able to make it look way prettier. “ it was a bitch and half to get in here. you’ve got a lot of fans. i, uh ” her hands tighten around the box, “ i brought some candy and i found that book you wanted. and by found i mean, i stood in line for hours and got the author to sign it for you, figured you deserved it, y’know? ” she was talking too much, wasn’t she?
“ anyway, ” she holds the box out for ziggy to take, then, when she realizes she is more than a bit immobile at the moment, she sets the box on her lap. “ there’s a mix of all the new songs that came out since you’ve been in here too. and uh, i packed my old walkman in there so you can listen to them. ”

a shrewd gaze slipped past ziggy and saw the wall behind her. ‘ ziggy is a witch bitch ’, she mouthed, her brow furrowed. the list of profanities on the wall seemed to spread. the red paint stared back at her. cindy knew that ziggy had a difficult time with some of the other kids, mostly the sunnyvalers, but she didn’t know it had gotten to this height. on some level they had been avoiding each other. circling around, but never getting too close. cindy bit her lip before looking up at ziggy. “ who did this ? ”
@judyblumed : “don’t touch me!”
“ziggy—” he’d grabbed hold of her arm only to get her to stop walking away, letting go as soon as she’d come to a stop. “look, i’m sorry.” those words are a rarity, especially to her, but they’re genuine. “sheila admitted she lied.” he doesn’t like admitting it, knows that it doesn’t make things right. all it really does is prove how gullible he is. “i’m sorry i yelled at you.”
cαηση ᵒᶰᵉˡᶤᶰᵉʳ 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍, accepting. @judyblumed.
❛ i’m getting out of here. off to 𝑐𝑙𝑎𝑖𝑚 𝑚𝑦 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒 among the STARS, bitch. ❜
@judyblumed : “ it’s not your future if you’re pretending to be somebody else. ”
cindy stopped dead in her tracks. fist clench down by her sides as her brain raced to find the best rebuttal. she wasn’t try to change the core of her being, just spruce up the outsides. eyebrows narrowed to meet her sister’s gaze. “ i am not pretending to be someone else. ” she said sternly. this last year had just snapped things into focus. the shit from shadyside clung to the bottom of her shoes and she couldn’t outrun the smell. they couldn’t pretend that their parents were going to get back together. or that their mom was going to stop drinking. the world had tilted and all cindy was trying to do was regain her balance.
“ what ? just because i bought a new polo doesn’t mean i’m pretending to be someone else. people grow ziggy and they change their minds. ” she is partially saying it to soothe her own mind. convince herself that the steps she was taking to change were what she wanted. but deep down cindy knew that part of it felt false. she just didn’t want to give up the version of her life that she had created. “ and someday you might change your mind about things to. ”
@judyblumed said: “And most days… I wish I stayed dead.”
blair didn't know what to say to that. this went beyond any sunnyvale versus shadyside drama. this was... deep. dark. it was something else altogether and she didn't particularly like the direction it was headed. ❝ ziggy, that's... you shouldn't take that for granted. you're very lucky. ❞ she says, unsure what she should really say to that. ❝ i'm... well, i'm glad you didn't. ❞
