I decided to write a short story about how my founders, Jufeng and Fengling, met! They’re both beings of elemental energy made by the Windsinger to strengthen Wind Flight and all that~

01.

She soared over the ocean of grass and basked in the sun, pressing herself against the curve of the sky. She needed nothing but the clouds and the wind and the soft rays of the springtime sun (for what does the wind need but room to fly?) Laughing, dipping, swirling across the sky, as insubstantial as a dandelion seed and as massive as the cosmos, all at once, and she was the wind, and the wind rushed through her.  

02.

Suddenly, she was not the wind, separate from the rest of creation, and she was trapped, trapped within a large awkward creature of scales and horns and hissing breath, and she plummeted towards the billowing grass below.

03.

He came into existence simply and quietly- first he was not, and then he was, and the coming into being was as soft and gentle as sunrise over the steppes. Everything he needed was whispered to him by the night breezes, and he knew that he was dragon, and he was a child of the one who sang pattern into the winds. The air responded to the sweep of his tail and the arch of his neck, and the breeze tugged on his wings and his talons and sang words and memories from far-off lands.

04.

There was a new creature in his domain, a creature who was also dragon, and the sunlight on her wings shone like golden fields of barley, and she smelled of the wind from the wild places of the world. He drew closer, his breath catching in his throat, and suddenly the stranger's head snapped up and she fixed him with pale green nebula eyes that looked into forever and seemed older than the mountains themselves.

05.

She looked at the strange scaly beast, like and unlike herself, and the smell of him was a gentle breeze on the first day of summer, and laughter echoing over the steppes. Her struggles stopped, and she drew in a deep and shuddering breath that felt like home.

my main inspirations for this au are like... heathers, the craft obv, ginger snaps, and this x files episode 

ANYWAY yea i was listening to dgw reprise and thinking about a PROM NIGHT FACE OFF... jufeng and fern should use their magic to send creedence back to hell and then have their own prom dance while everyone else wonders what the fuck just happened
