You and I walk a fragile line
I have known it all this time
But I never thought I'd live to see it break
~
Everything changed when Jughead moved to the South Side. Of course, she couldn't blame him for moving, she knew he had to. With his dad behind bars for a murder he didn't even commit and not being able to stay at the Andrews household any longer, he didn't have a choice in moving. Living in his dad's trailer was better than staying with a foster family whom he didn't know, though living on opposite sides of town and now attending different schools meant they saw less and less of each other. And to be completely honest, Y/N missed him so much. She missed having him stay over at her house before school since her house wasn't far from Archie's. She missed waking up with him in the mornings, being greeted with lazy kisses and warm hugs. She missed sitting with him in class, helping him in math and getting his help in English literature. She missed after school dates at Pop's; sharing each other's milkshakes and helping him write his novel.
But once he'd moved, the cracks in their relationship started to appear. At first it was just missed phone calls and being left on read, though soon it developed to frequent arguments, being stood up on dates for the Serpents, and just not seeing each other much anymore. It hurt her, because she missed her once perfect boyfriend, who was now so caught up with his new school and his imprisoned father's gang to give any sort of time or attention to her. Maybe it was selfish, but Y/N wanted him to focus on her, and not anybody else, even if just for one night. She could tell that their relationship was headed downhill, though she thought that it would be fixable. They had been through so much already, surely this wouldn't break them apart, right?
~
It's getting dark and it's all too quiet
And I can't trust anything now
And it's comin' over you like it's all a big mistake
~
Y/N frowned down at the Pop's menu sat on the table in front of her, scowling at the small printed words there. This was the third time he'd missed one of their dates, or just forgotten about it all together. She was guessing it was the latter, as Jughead had been too wrapped up in the Serpents and with Toni Topaz to think of anything else. She was certain that he was getting bored of her, or tired of her company. He was hanging around with a gang now, his people, so surely his plain old north-side girlfriend was getting tiresome? She took a glance out of the window beside her seat, seeing that the sky was darkening into evening - dark oranges and blues swirled together as the sun went down like an artist mixing paint on a canvas. When she'd gotten to Pop's it was still daylight, but he had taken so long to show that now it was getting dark.
Before she knew it, disappointed tears were brimming in her eyes, and a lump was forming in her throat. Why couldn't he just spare a few hours to go and see her? At first, she had given him the time he quite clearly needed, and the benefit of the doubt. He had just moved and he was adjusting, and she got that, but now it had been weeks and there was still no effort put in from his end. It wasn't like he was even a proper member of the Serpents, so she just didn't get it.
After another few minutes she had paid for the one milkshake she had drank and the one that had been left sitting on the table untouched, that was meant for Jughead, and then left the diner. It was cold outside, the kind of cold that seeped through your clothes and gave you goosebumps. Though she already felt the cold disappointment that had been sticking with her for weeks, now. On the colder days before Jughead had moved, he would give her his denim jacket as they walked to Pop's after school, but just the thought of that now made her want to start crying. She couldn't remember the last time she had been wrapped in his jacket, or even his arms for that matter.
Before she knew what she was doing, Y/N had pulled her phone out and called him, anger washing over her and replacing the sadness she felt. He picked up after six rings. Usually it would only take one.
"Y/N?" He asked, no 'love' or 'baby'. "Can I call you back later? I'm with the Serpents."
"Couldn't you have spared one night from the Serpents to show up to our date?" She scoffed, lifting her free hand to wipe her eyes which were now streaming with tears.
"What?" Jughead asked, sounding confused. "We didn't have a date today."
"Yes we did." Y/N sniffled, her lip quivering when realising he'd forgotten. "This is the third one you've missed for Christ's sake, Jug. I shouldn't trust anything you even say, anymore."
"I'm sorry I've been busy." He huffed, sounding more irritated than anything.
"Yeah, you're always busy now." She swallowed back the lump forming in her throat. "Too busy to come and see your girlfriend anymore."
"Y/N, come on-"
Before he could say anymore she cut the call off, not ready to hear it. Once her phone was back in her pocket she covered her mouth with her hands as she started crying, her chest heaving with each choked sob that passed her lips. Soon it hurt, though nothing hurt as bad as the sadness consuming her from realising he didn't love her like he used to.

Holding my breath, won't lose you again
Something's made your eyes go cold
~
It was almost midnight when Y/N heard the rumble of a motorbike turning into her street corner, before she heard the noise cut off right outside her house. It wasn't unusual for Jughead to come and see her after a fight, though it was unusual for them to fight so often. The most they had ever argued before the move was when his father had first been arrested, but she understood that he was just so stressed with everything that he was lashing out at people. Though this was different.
Y/N hadn't moved from her bed since she had gotten home. She hadn't even changed out of her clothes, she had just gotten into her bed and cried. She was still crying by the time she heard her window being pushed open further and someone stepping into her room. Y/N had the covers over her head so she couldn't see him approaching, though she felt the bed dip when he sat down beside her, and felt his hand rubbing her back through the covers. She sat up just enough to turn and move her arms around him, pressing her face into his chest as she started crying again, holding onto him tightly.
"I'm sorry." She heard him whisper into her hair as he wrapped his arms around her shaking body, which only made her cry harder. Did he really mean that? She couldn't be sure.
"Do- do you still love me?" Y/N couldn't help but ask through the tears, needing to know. It felt like he didn't, or that he was loving her less and less every day.
"Of course I still love you." Jughead sighed, his hand lifting to gently run his fingers through her hair. "I'm sorry I've been so distant lately, I've been busy sorting out stuff at South Side High and with the Serpents. I really didn't mean to forget about meeting up with you, okay?"
Y/N sniffled a little as she nodded, just holding onto him a little tighter. Whether she completely forgave him or not was a different question, though she was willing to give him another chance to prove that he really did mean what he said.
"Hey." He said softly, moving his hand underneath her chin to tilt her head upwards. Her red-rimmed eyes locked with his and she watched his expression soften somewhat when he took in her features, though there was something about his eyes that made her stomach swirl with uneasiness. They were just so cold and unlike him. Maybe he didn't really mean what he had said.

Come on, come on don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on don't leave me like this

Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back, now I'm haunted

After that night, Jughead had promised to make it up to her and come and see her the following weekend at Pop's. And to be honest, she really needed it. Her week had gone absolutely horribly, with Betty suddenly becoming cold and distant towards her. Y/N couldn't fathom why Betty had become so cruel to her; she just knew that the last time herself and the Cooper girl had spoken, it had ended in a long string of insults from Betty then her walking off. So she could really do with her boyfriend's comfort, after her best friend clearly didn't want to be around her anymore.
Y/N sipped on her milkshake at Pop's as she waited for Jughead to show up, his drink sat untouched opposite her on the other side of the table. Once she had hit the ten minute mark she began to grow worried that he wasn't going to show, but thankfully she spotted him pulling into the parking lot of Pop's after she had heard the rumble of his motorcycle outside. A smile was painted over her lips as she waited for him to walk inside, though it quickly faded once she had caught sight of him.
His face was full of cuts and bruises, most of them looking extremely painful. At first she had been worried that he had been in a fight with somebody at his school, though her stomach sank when seeing the leather jacket he was wearing. The leather Serpents jacket.
He had clearly caught sight of her expression, as Jughead sighed as he slipped into the seat opposite her own. "Y/N, I meant to tell you-"
"That you'd joined the gang you told me you wouldn't?" She whispered, her eyebrows furrowed with disbelief. "Why would you do that? They're dangerous, Jug, they're a biker gang. Are you kidding me?"
"They aren't dangerous." He frowned. "They're like family."
"They're like family?" She scoffed. "Oh, and I'm not anymore?"
"Hey, I didn't say that." Jughead frowned a little more.
"Maybe you didn't say it, but you've been meaning it for weeks!" She practically exploded, sitting up in her seat as her waterline burned with the build up of tears again. "When was the last time we both properly hung out together, hm? Or ate dinner together? Or even spoke to each other without arguing?"
"I told you I've been busy, with-"
"With the Serpents, yeah I know." Y/N scoffed. "You never have time for me anymore, and that's all I'm asking for. I miss you, Jug. You could have at least told me that the reason you were too busy to spare a few hours for me is because you were joining a fucking gang."
"What is your issue with the Serpents?" He snapped defensively, making her flinch at the harshness of his voice.
"You said you wouldn't join them, you promised me, remember that?" She asked. "Oh, but maybe you don't, since you seem to be forgetting a lot recently." She huffed, lifting a hand to wipe away the tears that had started falling. "They are dangerous, Jughead, have you even looked in the mirror recently? If you had to do that to join then what else might you have to do now that you're involved?"
"Will you give it a rest?" Jughead snapped, causing her to flinch once more. "Like it or not, I'm a Serpent now, okay? And I'm sorry that since I have this thing called responsibilities now that I can't spend every minute of the day with you."
"I didn't say that, Jug." She whispered, more tears falling. "I just miss you, we never see each other anymore and when we do it's... it's like you're a different person."
"Yeah? Well if I'm so different then why don't you just find yourself a new boyfriend, then. One that fits the criteria." Jughead scowled as he got out of his seat, shaking his head as he looked at her.
"Hey, wait." Y/N whispered, also getting out of her seat. "Don't go, Jug, I'm sorry." She whispered, reaching out to touch his arm.
Jughead was still frowning as he pulled away from her touch immediately, shaking his head as he just turned away and walked out of the diner, leaving her stood crying as she watched him leave.
~
Stood there and watched you walk away
From everything we had
But I still mean every word I said to you
~
Despite everything Jughead had said, they didn't break up. A few days later Jughead had stopped by her house to apologise, and for once it looked like he meant it. He had been close to tears himself as he ranted to her about everything, but mostly about how sorry he was and how he couldn't stand to lose her. By the end of the conversation she was crying too, and she had agreed to give him another chance. Maybe by this point she should have noticed just how many chances she had given him recently, and saved herself from any future hurt by breaking up with him, though she couldn't do it. She physically couldn't be without him, it pained her to even think about it.
Everything was good for a while. Betty had given her an explanation as to why she had been acting so funny, and definitely one she hadn't been expecting at that - as she had been getting phone calls from the Black Hood - the infamous serial killer who had taken up occupation in Riverdale over the past however many weeks. Whilst it was a complete and utter shock, she had immediately forgiven Betty, as she understood that she had become distant from Y/N so that the Black Hood wouldn't kill her. And things with Jughead had gotten better. Whilst he was still different to the soft and loving boy she had known before the move, he was clearly making an effort, and that mattered a lot to her.
Jughead had been especially better once his father was out of jail. It was a huge relief for everybody to have FP out, and whilst his return meant Jughead having to step up as Serpent King, Y/N was making an effort to try and understand the Serpents more, so she had been helping Jughead plan FP's retirement party in the Whyte Worm.
Though she had also been meeting up with Toni Topaz there, who was helping her learn the Serpent dance for her own initiation.
Whilst she still wasn't too fond of the Serpents, she wanted to be there for Jughead to make sure he didn't end up getting hurt or imprisoned like his father, so she had agreed to do the extremely sexist 'Serpent dance' and partially join the gang to keep an eye on her boyfriend.
Even though she wanted to keep him safe, on the night of the party she felt horrible. On her way to the bar she felt nauseated at even just the thought of stripping into lingerie and dancing in front of a whole bar of gang members, but once she was there she felt even worse. The smell of alcohol once she had walked into the building was sickening, and it only made her worse. She was almost convinced enough to leave altogether, though once she saw her boyfriend approaching she knew there was no way of getting out of it now.
"Hey." He smiled once he had reached her, planting his hands at her waist as he leaned down to give her a kiss - thankfully the action helped calm her a little. "You look amazing."
The compliment made her blush a little, as she was only wearing a peach skirt and white blouse, though she couldn't help but wonder what he would be thinking later once she had revealed what she was dressed in underneath the good-girl outfit.
Soon the party was in full swing, and somehow she had managed to lose Jughead in the crowd, though she had managed to find Toni sat at the bar instead. Whilst she wasn't extremely fond of the Topaz girl, she was grateful that she had wanted to help her out with the dance.
"Hey north-sider." Toni greeted once she had sat at the bar, stood on the other side of it. "How're you feeling?"
"Like I'm about to throw up or pass out." Y/N told her, scanning the room for a moment before looking back at the pink-haired girl. "Give me something." She tapped the bar, hoping a drink would help. She didn't even drink - but Y/N was hoping that some alcohol would help calm her nerves.
"Are you sure?" Toni asked as she started pouring a liquor into a shot glass for her. "You don't exactly look like you can hold your drink."
"Please, I need some confidence right now, and if that means drinking to get some then so be it." She sighed.
"Alright then." Toni placed the glass on the bar in front of her, looking a little concerned.
Y/N lifted the glass and eyed the liquid for a moment before lifting it to her lips and knocking back the whole drink in one. It burned it's way down her throat and made her start to cough at the horrible feeling, though despite that she put the glass back on the bar and tapped it, signalling that she wanted another.
"Another?" Toni asked. "Are you sure? Maybe that's not the best idea."
"Please, Toni. I won't be able to do this completely sober." She sighed.
Toni just nodded and started to pour her another one, though as she did Y/N's attention was soon locked on the stage a little away from the bar, seeing Veronica and Archie stood there with the Karaoke machine that Y/N had managed to hire for the party earlier in the week. Tearing her gaze away she took the second shot pretty quickly. It still burned horribly on the way down, though she didn't start coughing again. By the time she had taken her third shot, Veronica and Archie had ran off of the stage mid-song, and Y/N had left the bar to quickly move onto the stage, once Toni had said that it was now or never.
Once she was up on the stage she had managed to meet Jughead's confused eyes in the sea of people, and somehow she didn't tear her gaze as she started singing the rest of the song as she unbuttoned her blouse. Y/N tried her best to look seductive and confident as she stripped herself of her clothes and started dancing, and the alcohol did help a lot with that. She was able to focus solely on the dancing as she moved over to the pole on the middle of the stage and spun around it twice, before lowering herself down onto the floor in front of it. The mass amount of people watching her didn't even phase her as she had moved back to the microphone to sing the last few notes of the song, though once she met Jughead's eyes again she felt her stomach sink with nausea. He had that same cold look in his eye again, the one that looked like he had lost all of his love for her.
After the dance was over Y/N had left with her clothes to change in the bathroom of the Wyrm, missing the speech that FP had started as afterwards she went to stand outside by Jughead's motorbike to cool off. It wasn't long before she spotted Jughead walking out of the back entrance of the bar to come and join her, his expression one she couldn't even read. She could just see that he was not happy, not at all.
"Hey," She said softly as he approached, though was met with no reply once he was stood in front of her. "What's wrong? Was it the dance?"
"It's everything." His voice broke as he shook his head. "And yeah. Why would you do that?"
"I wanted to be a part of this." She told him. "The Serpents, your world."
"Why?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing as he frowned at her. The expression made her uneasy, as it was one she was all too familiar with recently. "Archie knew to cut bait. Now I'm dragging you down. I'm dragging my dad down."
"He's still figuring it out." She told him softly, trying to muster up a genuine sympathetic smile. "And it's gonna be okay, we'll figure out whatever we have to do together." Y/N reached out to place her hands on his chest, though frowned when he had immediately stepped backwards.
"No, Y/N. Mm-Mm." He shook his head. "Not together."
The words struck her like he had just slapped her around the face. Her head tilted a little as a sudden coldness rushed over her body, nausea swirling around her stomach once again. Was he really about to break up with her?
"Y/N, if you stay, I don't know if I can protect you anymore. You might get-" Jughead paused as he ran a hand over his mouth, before planting both of them on her shoulders. "You probably will get hurt. I can't let that happen to you."
Y/N felt her waterline burning with a build up of tears as she stared back at him, starting to shake her head. "That's not your decision to make." She practically whispered.
"Actually, yeah it is." He stepped backwards as he spoke, the painful cold gaze returning to his eyes.
"How many times, Jug?" Y/N asked as the tears started falling down her cheeks, her voice becoming wobbly with emotion. "How many times are we going to push each other away?" She gave a light push to his chest as she spoke, taking in a light breath as she tried to stop the tears.
"Until it sticks." The harshness in his voice just made more tears fall as her expression crumpled. "This was my dad's one chance at going straight, and I wrecked it. I'm not going to destroy you, too." He moved to turn and walk away, though Y/N started following instead.
"Just tell me what happened, Jug." Her voice broke as she moved to grab his jacket and turn him around, tears cascading down her face faster as she reached up to cup his face in her hands. "Tell me."
"Please," His voice was weak, and she could see that he was holding back tears, too. "Go home."
Jughead stared at her for another moment before pulling away from her hold, and turning away to walk back into the bar. Y/N couldn't stop the oncoming wave of sobs as she watched him walk away and head back into the bar, her heart aching as she covered her face with her hands. She felt like somebody had just ripped out her chest. He wasn't her's anymore, and she wasn't his.

He will try to take away my pain
And he just might make me smile
But the whole time I'm wishin' he was you instead
~
The next day, Y/N had found out on the same night that Veronica had broken up with Archie too. She had been at Pop's trying to fight back a fresh wave of tears, when Archie had taken a seat beside her and started up a conversation with her. She eventually just broke into a fresh wave of tears as she tried explaining to Archie what had happened, and he had moved his arms around her to hug her, trying to comfort her in the best way he could. Though it felt wrong - his arms felt different to Jughead's, they were more muscular and harder. That fact alone just made her cry harder as she held onto Archie, as she wished it was Jughead sat with her instead. But she couldn't seem to let go of Archie - needing the reassuring contact even if it wasn't from the right person. So she just held onto him tightly as she cried, silently wishing it was Jughead instead.
~
Oh, oh, holding my breath, won't see you again
Something keeps me holding on to nothing
~
Y/N returned to Pop's the day after, hoping to catch Archie there again. Though as she had walked though the doors of the diner, instead of seeing her red-haired friend, she saw Toni sat at the table beside her usual one instead. She frowned as she looked at her, knowing she probably knew about what her gone down between herself and Jughead at FP’s retirement party. She had tried to walk part Toni without being noticed, though just sighed when she heard her call her name.
“Y/N?” She asked, causing the girl to force a smile as she turned to face her. “Listen, I’m sorry about what happened between you and Jug at the party.”
“It’s fine.” Y/N shook her head. It wasn’t fine, far from it, but she wasn’t about to stand and talk to Toni Topaz about her feelings, of all people. “It’s probably been a long-time coming.” She sighed.
“Listen, I-“
“Y/N?” Another voice came from behind her, an all too familiar voice, causing Y/N to frown as she turned around and saw Jughead stood there. She hadn’t seen him since the night he’d broken up with her, and hadn’t planned on seeing him for a long while, knowing she wouldn’t be able to handle it. Though instead of tears of sadness filling her eyes like she thought would happen, angry tears filled them together as she put two and two together. She glanced between him and Toni, and just shook her head as the tears started falling. He was meeting up with her, not even three days after they had broken up.
“Nice.” She whispered. “Rub salt in the wound, why don’t you?”
“What?” Jughead asked, before his eyes widened as he looked at Toni before back at her. “Y/N-“
“I don’t want to hear it, Jughead.” Y/N shook her head as the tears fell faster, quickly stepping past him and towards the exit of the diner to head outside. Her vision quickly became blurred with tears as she walked, breathing becoming a difficult task as she pushed back any verbal cries trying to escape.
“Y/N wait!” Jughead called after her. “It’s not what you think, please.”
Y/N turned around to face him as she started full-on crying, despite trying not to. “No, Jughead, I don’t care!” She shouted through her tears, her whole body starting to shake. “Just leave me alone, okay? I can’t be around you right now.”
Whilst Jughead stumbled over his words trying to say something, Y/N just turned around and walked away as she started sobbing freely.
~
Come on, come on don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted
Come on, come on don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone

By the time Y/N had gotten home, she was a mess. Her chest hurt with each rough cry that passed her lips but she couldn’t stop. Weeks of emotional torture she’d endured, watching Jughead fall out of love with her, and just as things had started to seem okay he’d broken up with her. He had said it was to protect her, because he couldn’t let her get hurt, but was that really the reason? Or was he really just not in love with her? And wanted to be with Toni instead?
Once she had managed to get to her room she just slammed the door and fell to her floor, her hands covering her face as she hunched over. Everywhere hurt; her chest, her throat, her eyes, her heart. She felt like screaming, screaming for hours until her throat was raw and she couldn’t make anymore noise. Though she couldn’t physically stop the sobs long enough to even try to scream.
Her hands were shaking once she’d moved them from her face to plant them on her bedroom floor to stable herself, the shakes travelling up her arms and through her body until her entire frame was quivering with the agonising pain she felt. The tears couldn’t seem to stop, either. It felt like she had been crying ever since the break up, and for the most part she had.
“You’re not gone.“ She sobbed, hitting the floor with her palms before hunching over again as she continued crying. “You can’t be gone!“ The words mixed in with her crying to the point where she sounded like a wounded animal, begging for death. And in a way, she felt like it. Y/N didn’t think she could survive without Jughead by her side.

You and I walk a fragile line
I have known it all this time
Never ever thought I'd see it break
Never thought I'd see it
~
Another week passed before she saw Jughead again. The first time she had seen him after the break up it had been an accident, though this time he had asked to meet up with her, and for some reason said yes. Y/N tried telling herself that she had agreed to go simply because she was curious about what he had to say, though the real reason was because she was hoping he wanted to meet up with her to get back together.
For once, Jughead was there before her, though the scene looked so odd. For a start, he wasn’t even wearing his signature beanie - just the Serpent jacket that looked so foreign to her. And there was nothing on the table. Usually when they met up, whoever got there first would get each other’s favourite milkshakes. Though the only thing there was an untouched Pop’s menu.
“Hey.” Jughead said softly once she had sat in the seat opposite him, not beside him as usual. “I’m glad you came. I wouldn’t have put it past you if you didn’t.”
“What did you want to talk about?” She asked, just wanting to get it over and done with. Whilst she wasn’t crying herself to sleep every night anymore or tearing up at the mention of his name, she still didn’t trust herself to be with him for too long, in fear of setting off her uncontrollable flow of emotions.
“I just...” Jughead sighed. “I wanted to say I was sorry, okay? I shouldn’t have been so harsh with you about it. I probably could have done it all in a nicer way to make it easier for the both of us. And, I just wanted to say that I wasn’t meeting up with Toni last week in the way that you thought. Really, Y/N, she just wanted to make sure I was okay.”
Y/N scoffed quietly as she shook her head, a sad smile making it’s way to her face. “And I was thinking you wanted to get back together.” She whispered, though he heard her.
Seeing his eyebrows furrow and the shake of his head was enough to make her eyes brim with tears again as a lump formed in her throat.
“Y/N, I can’t do that.” He whispered, reaching across the table to take her hands in his. “You’re in too much danger with me, I can’t let anything happen to you.”
“I can handle it, Jug.” She tried telling him, though her throat was clogged up with tears and it made talking an extremely difficult task. “I can handle it, please can we just try.” Tears starter falling as her voice broke, her hands tearing from his as they flew to cover her face. After a moment she felt the seat dip beside her as he sat down, his arms winding around her and pulling her into him as she started crying.
“Please don’t leave me.” She started crying, the sound of her heart breaking almost louder than her cries. Almost. “Please, Jug, this can’t be over, I never thought I’d see this break, please.”
Jughead was stiff as he rubbed her arm gently, letting his lips linger on her forehead as a way of trying to comfort her. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, his own voice thick. “I have to. Y/N.”
At that she just started crying harder as she held onto him, trying to soak up his hold, his touch, everything, as she knew once he left she wouldn’t ever get it again. She turned to be completely pressed into him as she sobbed into the cold uncomfortable leather of his jacket, trying to hold onto him for as long as possible. Though she knew everything was over, and she couldn’t even take the thought. She couldn’t stand to live without Jughead in her life, she just didn’t want to.
'Uh-huh, life's like this, Uh-huh, uh-huh, that's the way it is, cause life's like this, Uh-huh,Uh-huh, that's the way it is.'
You guys know when you have a crush on someone, but you can't have them. I know that feeling because I have a big crush on my best friend Jughead. Anyway I got woken up by my alarm telling me to get up and go to school. I really don't like school because I don't have many friends because I prefer to be alone a lot. I got dressed in some black skinny jeans, a gray top with a black jean jacket. After getting dressed I went in to the bathroom and put my hair into a french braid so that it is out of my face. I then head to my closet and put on my black converse. Once done upstairs I made my way down to get some breakfast. After eating I grabbed my bag and car keys and, get in my car and drove to school.
'Skip the drive'
'Chill out, what you yelling for?, lay back, it's all been done before, and if, you could only let it be, you will see, I like you the way you are, when, were driving in your car, and you're talking to me one on one but you become.'
When I got to school, I made my way to the lounge since my friends out there. Once I walked in the only spot that was available was by Jug and Betty or shall I say Elizabeth. Yeah I called her by her real name because she knows about my crush on Jughead aka her boyfriend. So her and I don't like each other since she got over her crush on Mr. Football Player aka Archie Andrews. Whenever I would hangout with Jug alone she would find a way to join in. She can be really annoying when I want sometime with him. Any who I walk up to the seat and sat down. Jug then saw me and gave me a side hug since that how we greet each other. I didn't really feel like joining there conversation so I decided to just look around the room. While looking around the room I could feel eyes on me. I could tell it was Elizabeth giving me a death glare. I just continued looking and avoiding her eyes on me until the bell rang to head to class.
'Somebody else ,'Round everyone else, you're watching your back, like you can't relax, you're trying to be cool, you look like a fool to me.'
The bell rang we all got up and walked to our different classes.
'Skip till lunch'
When the bell rang for lunch I walked to my locker to grab my lunch. Yes I know that I still pack a lunch, it's just I am not really into school lunch. Anyway I walk to our table outside. Once I got there I sat next to Archie cause I did not want to sit next to the lovebirds. When I opened my lunch I saw Jug's hand enter my lunch bag to get the chips I packed for him. I let hi grab them and then Elizabeth grabbed them from him and put them back in my bag. I ended up handing them back to him while I gave her a dirty look. She said " Juggie you can't just steal her food." I started laughing which made everyone, but Jug look at me, like I was crazy. I said " Elizabeth he is allowed to take them, I did pack them for him specifically." she then said " Why do you call me that my name is Betty." I didn't say anything after that because truth is I don't really want to say it. She would end up getting mad at me more then she already is. I just sat there eating my lunch I could feel Jug's eyes on me and he knew something was wrong. He could read me like a book since we been friends more then Archie has been friends with him. After lunch we headed to our last classes. The final bell rings I run to my locker grab my things and run to my car before any of my friends can talk to me.
' Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?, I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated, life's like this you, and you fall, and you crawl, and you break, and you take, what you get, and you turn it into, honestly and promise me I'm never gonna find you fake it, no,no,no.'
When I got home I went straight upstairs to just cry my emotions and feelings out because my best friend is never going to like me back.
Hey guys! Here is something that I wrote. Hope you like angst because thats what this is XD I have no clue why but I have been in an angsty writing/reading mood lately. Hope you like it!
Summary: You and your boyfriend, Jughead, went to Pop's together with the gang. Everything started out great, until everyone forgot about you. It was like you weren't even there. (Set like the Bulldogs and South Side Serpants don't hate eachother)
Pairing: Jughead x Reader
Warnings: Angst, swearing, angst, and some more angst. I'm in an angsty writing mood
I was tying my shoe lace when there was a knock on my trailer door. I grabbed my coat and opened the front door, smiling when I saw Jughead's face.
"Hey, you ready?" He asked with a smile. I smile back and said "Ready to go."
I follow Jughead to his motorcycle and he hands me my helmet so I can secure it on my head. Jughead gets on first and then I follow, puting my arms around his waist. Jughead starts the engine and heads to Pop's. We pull into the parking lot of Pop's and park. Jughead and I walk inside hand-in-hand and look for the gang.
"Juggie! Y/N!" We both turn our heads and see Archie waving us over. Jughead sits down first next to Betty and then I sit next Jughead and he puts his arms around me. Across the table is Archie with Veronica under is arm.
"Hey man, how's it going?" Archie asks. "Great, the article is coming along and Betty and I have finally cracked this case." Jughead says proudly as he high fives Betty. "That's awesome! What are you going to do next?" Veronica asks. "Well first, I'm going to hang with you guys, and then I'm going to take my beautiful girlfriend out on a date." Jughead smiles and kisses my forhead. A chorus of "Aww's" made it's way around the table. Pop comes over and takes everyone's order and says he will be right back with the order. Betty and Veronica are talking about boys and what ever else those two talk about. Archie and Jughead are talking about what's been going on between their families and joke around. I sit there and try to pick a conversation to possibly join in.
Suddenly we hear some loud noises behind us and we all turn around. Some Serpants and Bulldogs come in all laughing and playfully pushing eachother around. Jughead and Archie call them over and they all take a seat on top of the booths all around our table. Everyone is high fiving, cheering, and hugging.
Fangs and Sweet Pea come over and ask to sit and Jughead tells them they can take a seat next to him. I look around and see every seat is taken, so he must have meant my seat. I feel a pat on the shoulder and it's Sweet Pea telling me to move. I stand up and let him take a seat, obviously Jughead didn't mind that Sweet Pea just made me stand up so he can sit there. Fangs comes up the side of the table and leans on it, basically blocking me from being near the table. I look around, not knowing what to do, so I go and take a seat at the bar. Pop turns around and notices me.
"What are you doing over here honey. I thought you were with them." He says.
"I thought so too Pop but Sweet Pea tole me to get up so he can sit and Jughead didn't seem to care. He hasn't even noticed I came over here." You replied sadly.
I look over and see Jughead and the gang are all having a blast. No one really noticing my absence. Pop hands me my milk shake and fries and tells me it's on the house. I quietly thank him and pull my book out. I sat at the bar for a good 30 minutes eating my fries, drinking my strawberry shake while reading my book. And still, no one has even cared to look over to me. I sigh and get up, walking over to Jughead and try to tap him but he doesn't budge. I tried to take his hat off to get his attention and he just re-adjusts it. I huff and cross your arms so I try Archie next. I pulled on his arm and try to talk to him but he shruggs me off. Now is when I start to get pissed. How can everyone just pretend like I'm not even here. I rode here with Jughead! I pulled on Archie's arm a little harder this time and he finally turns.
"What." He says. "Can you take me home please, I don't feel like being here and I want to go." You say. "Sorry I'm busy." He said without even blinking and turns back around. He jumps back into the conversation he was in and ignores me once again. I cross my arms and walk back over to Pop.
"Hey Pop, if for some miracle or reason, someone asks where I went. I walked home." I say. "Are you sure you should be walking alone this late at night dear?" He asks caringly. I turn and look outside the shop's windows and see that it is pretty dark out. I turn back to Pop and give him a weak smile. "I'll be fine. I have my pepper spray with me." Pop nods and tells you a soft 'goodbye".
I pull my jacket closer to my body and start my walk home. What a perfect windy night for a hike in the cold. I only live 45 minutes (walking distance) from Pop's. In fact I live right next to Jughead in the trailer park.
I woke up one day and found my parents had packed up and left. Leaving a small note saying, "Couldn't do it anymore. Had to go. Couldn't pay the bills either. XOXO Mom and dad". I start tear up as I remember that day like it was yesturday. Ever since that day I've lived in that trailer park by myself, working temp jobs here and there to pay the bills.
The wind picks up and I shiver and I wrap my arms around myself to try and stay warm. I hear honking in the distance and some cheering. I turn around to see what all the commotion is about and I see a car heading your way. A motorcyle flies by with a car following it. The car had music blaring with people laughing and yelling. As the motorcyle and car get closer and it passes me, I notice something. It was Jughead on his bike and the gang back in Archie's car. They drive straight past me and in the direction the trailer park. Not even slowing down or stopping. By now I am beyond pissed off that I have tears welling up in my eyes. How could they?! Why would they even invite me tonight if they were just going to completely forget about me? I check my phone and see its about 11:40 pm. I sigh in anger and turn back around to continue walking home.
It was about midnight by time I finally made it to the trailer park. I see Jughead talking and laughing with his dad. FP notices me and smiles.
"Hey Y/N. What are you doing out by yourself so late. I figured you'd be with this one." He says while point his hand that held a beer in it towards Jughead.
Jughead turns around and look me in the eyes. His smile drops and I know he just realized what happened tonight. I don't say anything and walk straight to my trailer. Jughead runs after me and grabs my arm.
"Y/N, oh my god I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. It's like once the Serpents and the Bulldogs showed up I. I-uh."
"You what Jughead? You forgot about me?. How could you forget that you drove me to Pop's? Or that I was sitting right next to you. You even let Sweet pea make me get up so he could sit next to you. You forgot I was even there. When I tried to get your attention, you didn't even turn to look at me, you didn't even seem to care! And when I asked Archie for a ride home because I didn't want to be there anymore, he said he was 'too busy' and ignored me too. The only fucking person in the whole building that knew I existed tonight was Pop!" I yelled back at him. By now there are angry tears running down my face. Jughead looks down, defeated.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. I'm so so so sorry. I cannot begin to express how sorry I am Y/N."
I wipe the tears away and look Jughead in the eye, "Sorry isn't going to cut it Jones. Why don't you go hang out with your friends. I'm sure you'll never forget them like you forgot about your girlfriend. Well, ex-girlfriend now." I storm inside my trailer and slam the door shut, locking it.
A/N: Every couple months, I remember Cole Sprouse exists and can’t get him out of my mind. Therefore, here’s some nice Jughead for you.
Pairing: Jughead x Reader
Word Count: 1,908
Warnings: alcohol, partying (not reader, but those around her), jealousy, harassment < angst because of this, ends in fluff because all I write is fluff basically
Summary: You and Jughead go to one of Veronica’s parties and guys end up hitting on you, making you uncomfortable and your boyfriend, Jug, very jealous.
(Y/N) - your name, (Y/N/N) - your nickname if you have one
“Do we really have to go to this party?” Jughead asked. He and his leather jacket were leaning on the door frame of your bathroom while you finished getting ready.
You set your curling iron on the counter and tuned to him. “I don’t really want to go either. But we were invited, and Veronica is definitely expecting us to come.” You continued your debate silently. “We could just go for an hour?” you said with a wince.
“One hour. And not a minute more,” he chuckled.
“You won’t have any trouble pulling me away,” you said, unplugging the hot curling iron and giving your hair one last run through with your fingers. Your eyes fell to the reflection of your shirt in the mirror. The lacy fabric had ridden up again.
“(Y/N).”
You hummed in answer, pulling down on the shirt’s hem and wishing it would stay in place.
“You’re beautiful.”
You shot him a bright grin. You were sure you’d never get used to his affection, it always sent you spinning.
But you were still bothered. “You think this shirt is okay? Veronica got it for me, so I wanted to wear it tonight, but I think it’s a bit… much?” You faced the mirror and fidgeted some more.
“You don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to,” he said.
“I know. It was nice of her to think of me, but the lace and everything, it’s just not me,” you said, deciding to wear something different to the party.
On your way to your closet, Jug stopped you. “Hold on,” he said. He untied the blue flannel shirt from his waist and secured it around yours. “Now, that is you.” He took your hands in his and kissed them, winking at you.
You already felt more comfortable, feeling the tight knot of the heavy material covering your midriff that was left exposed by the shirt. You squeezed his hands. He always made you feel safe.
“Thank you,” you said kissing his cheek.
He stepped aside and swept a hand out in front of you. “Off to the ball.”
When you arrived at the party, you thanked god that Jughead was with you. You hated parties almost as much as he did and you were dreading this one before you even entered the front door. Already, the bass of the loud music inside was shaking in your chest. When you heard a loud “WHOOOOOO” coming from inside, you looked at Jug and confirmed the plan. “One hour.”
“If we even survive that long,” he said.
You chuckled and opened the heavy door. Even though the place was practically a mansion, you doubted there was space for even two more people. Every inch was covered in couples dancing, bros doing keg stands, and shrill girls yelling about how much they’ve missed each other. You didn’t recognize a single person.
“Come ‘ere, there’s Archie,” Jug said to you, his lips close to your ear. He led you through the guests, his large hand sprawled out over your lower back. Familiar red hair flashed as you dodged the drunks.
When you reached Archie, you met Betty and Veronica as well.
“There they are! Welcome! You guys actually came,” Veronica said.
“I told you they’d come,” Betty said with a smile.
“Of course we came,” you said. Both the girls knew you were lying, but you laughed with them as they shot you teasing expressions.
“This party is insane,” you heard Jughead say to Archie.
Before you could chime in, Veronica cooed over your outfit. “(Y/N), you look hot!” Seriously, I knew that would look great on you. And I knew Jughead would like it too, she said with raised eyebrows.
You felt Jug’s arm reach further around you and his thumb hook into the front belt loop of your jeans. You felt his voice rumble through his chest. “Yeah, the shirt’s great, but I like who’s inside it.”
Veronica groaned and you heard Archie laugh, but you were too busy with the wink Jug gave you.
“Thanks again for giving it to me, Ron,” you said over the music.
“Of course! What are gal pals for? But, I gotta say, when I thought of it on you, I didn’t picture it with Jughead’s flannel,” she said, scrunching her nose.
“Oh, I just didn’t want to be cold,” you said, pushing into Jug’s side.
“(Y/N), it’s hot as hell in here, I think you’ll be fine,” Betty said.
“Well, when I got outside, ya know-”
Your sentence was covered with Veronica’s giggles as she ripped the flannel away and threw it at Jughead. She took your hand and spun you around yelling, “You’re sexy, baby! Show it off!”
You couldn’t help but crack a smile. You were fully aware that you were a little too quiet for Veronica’s taste and this was her way of getting you to have some fun.
Jughead was watching you carefully, ready to return his flannel to you if you wanted it.
You threw your hands in the air and yelled “Alright!”
“Atta girl! Now, come on, let’s leave the boys to themselves, we’re going to dance.”
She pulled you and Betty through the crowd and into the middle of the room where the music seemed even louder. You jumped and twirled until Veronica pulled you close to her and moved her hips with yours. Betty too danced close to you, all in good fun.
Once the three of you were sufficiently danced out, Veronica and Betty left the dance floor to grab some drinks.
Your nerves returned to you when you were no longer distracted by your friends. The moment you stopped swaying to the music, you felt a hand graze across your lower back. You turned to see Jughead grinning at you.
“Did I miss your distress calls?” he asked with a wince. He pushed your hair to the back of your shoulders while your hands slipped inside his unzipped jacket and rested on his hips.
“No,” you laughed. “It was actually fun.”
You looked around for Veronica’s return and saw a couple guys watching you. Your brow furrowed and you stared at Jug’s chest, pulling at the hem of the short shirt again.
“You want this?” Jug asked, tugging at the flannel around this waist.
“Yes, please,” you said sweetly, ignoring everyone around you and concentrating on Jug.
He pulled the shirt away from him and leaned down to kiss your neck as he tied it around you. You hummed in pleasure, but he pulled away too quickly for your liking.
“You want something to drink?” he asked.
“Just a water, or soda or something?” When he nodded you added, “I’ll be over here,” pointing to an open spot on the wall next to a bookshelf.
“No more dancing for you?” he smirked.
“Absolutely not,” you laughed.
You found your place next to the bookshelf and leaned your back against the wall, crossing one heeled boot over the other. You watched the party unfold, wincing at a particularly loud song that made your ears ring.
“Hey, (Y/N/N), where’s Jugs?” Sweet Pea had appeared out of nowhere and startled you.
“Hey, Sweets. He’s just getting some sodas.”
He stood next to you, leaning on one shoulder. “Saw you with the girls, looked like you were havin’ fun.”
“Oh, a blast,” you laughed, making him smirk.
“You don’t normally come to these things,” he said.
“Well, Veronica-”
“Oh, Veronica. She likes to get us all together, doesn’t she?” he asked.
You nodded.
He leaned closer to you. “Ya know, I had to hit a few guys tonight. They were talkin’ about you, askin’ who the new party girl was.”
“Really?” You winced as you thought about the guys staring at you on the dance floor.
“Yeah,” he shrugged. “But I took care of ‘em. You’re safe with us.” He crossed over you, about to leave when he stopped before you. He placed a finger under your chin and said, “You do look smokin’ tonight.”
Before you could reply, you heard Jughead’s low voice. “Get outta here, Sweet Pea.”
“Jug.” You got around Sweet Pea and placed a hand on his chest, pushing him toward the exit. “Let’s just go. I’ll explain.”
“Hey, man, I’m not the one you gotta worry about here,” Sweet Pea slurred. “There’re a lotta other guys around here you should beat up before me.”
Jughead put the cups of soda on a table nearby without taking his eyes off Sweet Pea. He pressed Sweets against the wall and threatened him, growling, “You stay away from her. You don’t talk to her like that.”
“Alright, Jug, alright,” Sweets said, his hand raised. “(Y/N/N), I’m sorry.” He walked away and disappeared into the party.
“Jug, let’s just go,” you said.
He nodded and wrapped his arm tight around your shoulders as you headed for the door.
When you passed Archie, he said, “You guys leavin’ already?”
Jug paused and pushed a finger into Archie’s chest. “This is why I don’t come to your stupid parties.”
You pulled him away. “Jug, it’s fine, come on.” You gave Archie an apologetic look as you closed the door behind you.
Jug stormed down the steps and into the road. “How could he talk to you like that? What, he waits until I’m not around and then makes a move on you?” He wouldn’t face you. He rambled and yelled to no one, throwing his hands about, the serpent on his leather jacket moving up and down.
“Jug, come on. Sweets was drunk! He’s our friend, he didn’t mean it like that,” you said.
He turned to you, his brow furrowed and face red with fury. “You didn’t see him looking at you.”
“You didn’t see a lot of guys looking at me tonight. Sweets beat ‘em up out back for it.”
He stopped, his face now filled with concern. “Guys were bothering you tonight?”
“Of course they were.”
He pressed his lips into a thin line and shook his head. You reached for his cheek, your thumb gently rubbing across his skin. “There’s always gonna be guys bothering me.” Your free hand slid inside his jacket and rested on his back. “But when I’m with you, I always feel safe.”
His eyes met yours and the deep color of them seemed to grow. He wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed you forehead.
“And when you’re not around,” you continued, “I know the Serpents are there. Especially Sweets. I would hate for us to lose him.”
Jug sighed. “I’ll call him tomorrow.”
He untied his hands and his flannel from your waist and slid it on you. He took his time buttoning it for you as you ran your fingers through his dark hair. When he reached the last button, he gently pressed his soft lips on yours.
“Pop’s?”
He shook his head. “Let’s just go home.”
He took your hand and led you toward his motorcycle.
“Wait. Do you hear that?” you asked.
He stopped and listened. “What?”
You tilted your head and turned away from the bike. “It sounds like… there’s a milkshake calling your name.”
A smile broke into his features and she shook his head at you.
“Now he have to go,” you said.
His large hands framed your jaw as he grinned brightly at you. “I love you,” he said.
Anon requests: An imagine wth Jughead where the reader, Betty, Jughead and Archie are childhood friends. Ever since they were kids, Jugead likes Betty and the reader likes Jugead but the reader is stuck in the Bestfriendzone. The reader always asks Jughead questions that gives hints that she likes him but his reply will always be "I like Betty." Examples are: Do you want to be my project partner? "I like Betty to be my project partner." Do you want to be my prom date? "I like Betty to be my prom date." It will go on and on until the last scene is where the reader confesses to Jughead: I like you Jughead. But as usual his reply will be "I like Betty." And the imagine ends there.
Pairing: Jughead x Reader, Jughead x Betty
Description: (Y/N) has been pining for Jughead for years, but Veronica finally challenges her to do something about it. Heartbreak ensues.
Warnings: angst?
Word count: 1,456
A/N: another great one written by @itsfangirlmendes (with just a little editing from yours truly). Before you even ask, there will not be a part 2 to this.
I had been best friends with Betty, Archie, and Jughead for all of my childhood. I grew up alongside them, and ever since I can remember, I’ve been completely smitten with Jughead. He’s never picked up on it, though, always remaining oblivious. Throughout our entire lives, I always took his side, no matter what conflict it was over. I always supported him through everything, and he still only viewed me as a friend.
Even when Archie and Jughead had their falling out the summer before sophomore year, I stuck with Jughead. It hurt to not see Archie and Betty as much as I used to, but I loved Jughead and wasn’t planning on leaving him. I know he has always been grateful for my support, but I’m sure he hasn’t viewed it as anything more than two best friends sticking up for each other.
Archie and Jughead have made up now, and not only are we all friends again, but we have a new addition to our group. Veronica is just what I need in my life right now: a breath of fresh air. She’s become my confidant, something I never truly found in Betty.
Veronica and I decided it’d be nice to have a night in, and with Jug and Betty out sleuthing, Archie doing whatever Archie does, and Kevin sneaking around with his boyfriend, we decided that our night would be just the two of us.
“(Y/N),” Veronica mutters, snapping my attention away from the movie we were watching.
“Yes, Ronnie?” I respond, looking away from the TV to turn towards her.
“You like Jughead, don’t you?” she immediately interrogates with a smirk, causing my face to grow red.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She giggles at my shocked expression before nudging my shoulder.
“You are so in love with him!” she coos.
I bury my head in my hands as she continues to tease me.
“Come on (Y/N/N). Just admit it, you love Jughead!”
I look up at her again. “Fine!” I yelled, exasperatedly throwing my hands in the air. “I like Jughead! Is that what you wanted to hear?”
She grins at me. “Ha, I knew it! You guys are perfect for each other. You need to tell him that you like him!”
“No!” I immediately shot her down. “I could never!”
Veronica laughs at my reaction before responding: “Just start dropping hints. He’s smart, so he should be able to pick up on them.”
I think about it for a moment before smiling at her.
“Okay Ronnie,” I cave in, biting back a smile. “This better work, though.”
Her grin widens and she rests her head on my shoulder. “It better,” she responded. “I am so ready for you guys to become a thing.”
I leave her house that night with the newfound hope that I would be able to tell Jughead how I feel and that he and I could officially become a thing.
On Monday, I walk into school and notice Jughead at his locker. Seeing as he was alone, I decide to go say good morning.
“Morning Jug!” I greet, hugging him quickly.
He looks a little taken aback, but nevertheless, he hugs me back.
“Good morning (Y/N). You seem chipper this morning.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” I awkwardly giggle.
I pull away from him and see Ronnie giving me a thumbs-up over his shoulder. Betty also gives me a small smile, but it feels less genuine than Ronnie’s excitement. I turn my attention back to Jughead as the bell rings. This is my first chance to drop a hint.
“Hey, Jug, do you want to walk me to my class?”
He looks confused at first, but then his expression shifts to guilty.
“I usually would, but I was going to walk Betty to class,” he admits.
I immediately feel hurt, but I refuse to let Jughead my disappointment.
“Okay, that’s fine,” I stutter, slowly inching away from him. “I’ll see you later then.”
“Thank you for understanding (Y/N).”
I watch as he walks away and feel my spirits drop. Veronica looks confused as Jughead walks away with Betty, so she comes up to me.
“What was that about?” she inquires, crossing her arms.
“I don’t know Ronnie. I didn’t ask him why he was walking her to class.”
We turn around and watch as they turn the corner before exchanging a look of confusion, starting to walk to our own classes.
Later, I walk into science and sit down next to Jughead.
“Hey, Jug,” I greet him, noticeably gloomier than earlier this morning.
Jughead looks up at me. “Hey (Y/N),” he smiles. “Did you get to class fine this morning?”
“Yeah,” I shrug, “I was lacking your amazing company, but I survived.”
He chuckles at my comment and starts to say something, but before he could get it out, the teacher speaks up and starts the lesson. She starts to introduce our next project and announces that we all need to get into partnerships to work. Her timing could not have been more perfect: here is another chance to spend time with Jughead.
“Do you want to be partners, Jug?” Betty asks, seemingly coming out from nowhere. I feel the same hurt I felt this morning.
“Yeah, sure. Totally,” he responds, his eyes glued to her. Jughead walks back over to where Betty sat before, and Veronica approaches my table.
“Okay, I am more than confused. Why do Jughead and Betty seem connected at the hip?” she questions, narrowing her eyes at them. I look over at the pair sadly before turning back to Veronica.
“Honestly, Ronnie, I have no idea.”
As I shoot another glance at Jughead and Betty, the teacher starts explaining the project more in-depth, forcing me to tear my attention away from the pair.
Jason’s funeral was this weekend, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to ask Jughead if he wanted to come with me. I’ve been trying to drop hints all week, but every time I tried, I was met with a comment about Betty or prior made plans with Betty. It’s taken a toll on my confidence, but I wasn’t going to lose hope just yet.
School had just gotten out, and knowing that Jughead would try to be out of the school as soon as possible, I walk as quickly as I can to his locker in hopes of catching him before he leaves. I see Jughead walk up to his locker and retrieve his stuff.
“Jughead, wait up!” I call out, quickening my pace.
Jughead snaps his head in my direction.
“Hey, (Y/N), what’s up?”
“I was just wondering if you wanted to go with me to Jason’s funeral,” I propose once I reach his locker.
Jughead gives me the same guilty look he’s been giving me all week.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I was going to go with-“
“Betty,” I finish for him, shaking my head. “Yeah, I should’ve guessed. Sorry for bothering you, I’m just gonna go.”
I turn on my heel and storm out of the school. I hear Jughead slam his locker shut and run after me.
“(Y/N), (Y/N)!” he yells. “Wait up!”
I stop in my tracks and turn to face the boy I love.
“What? What do you want?” I demand, sounding harsher than I intend to. Jughead appears to be confused by my sudden anger towards him.
“What’s wrong (Y/N)?” he inquires. “Why are you so angry all of a sudden?”
“I am angry at you, Jughead, because I have been in love with you for years. I’ve been with you through everything, putting my whole heart and soul into our relationship, and out of nowhere, you ditch me for Betty, someone you’ve shown little to no interest before this week. Now it’s always, ‘I’m working with Betty,’ or ‘I’m going with Betty,’ and I am sick of it. I’m done playing second fiddle to her.”
He looks at me, stunned into silence for a moment.
“I didn’t know you felt that way,” he finally speaks up with a hoarse voice, turning his head down to look at his shoes.
“Well, I do, Jughead.” I walk towards him and nudge his chin up, forcing him to look into my eyes.
“I love you, Jughead Jones,” I admit, my voice wavering. My heart feels like it’s outside of my body, and my body tenses as I brace myself for his reaction.
“I’m sorry,” he apologizes, eyes full of regret.
I take a step back, anticipating what he is going to say. I know it’ll be the same heart-breaking sentence he’s told me for the past week: the three words that I never wanted to hear.
A/N: lol heres the 2nd part to Unspoken words, enjoy! I suggest the song mentioned in here, its one of my favs. Also sorry for not posting as much, things are very crazy atm but im getting back to it. Much love!

Jugheads POV-
"Betty?" I said over the phone, hearing my sniffling girlfriend on the other end. "Yeah, I'm here, come outside." She sniffled again and I listened as she told me that she couldn't, her mom locked her inside the house for the night and no one was allowed in nor out.
"So I can't come inside to see you?" I asked, and I listened as she told me I couldn't. My heart sank a little bit, not because I couldn't go in and see her, but because I had just left Y/N heartbroken and crying alone in her house for this.
"Yeah, no I get it. I'll just see you tomorrow." I said, and hung up the phone, throwing it on the seat next to me. I leaned my head on the steering wheel and sighed, I was truly and idiot today. I kicked myself, closing my eyes trying to stop myself from crying, but behind my shut eyes images of Y/N played like a movie. Her smiling, the way her eyes light up anytime she tells an awful pun and everyone groans, the sound of her laugh when she shoots sarcastic comments my way.
I replayed memories of our time at Pops, late nights in the quiet diner, the only sounds that are audible are of the neon lights buzz, Pops whistling from back into the kitchen, and the tapping of keys and scratches of lead on paper. While I wrote she drew, or also wrote, but she preferred the look of her scribbled words on paper, the smears of black on her hands as evidence of a nights work. A tattered notebook with crumbled pages, a worn and old look, inside the ins and outs of her mind were translated into pictures and poems, proof that there was a beautiful mind behind her beautiful eyes. She thought the digital route to her genius felt cheap, she liked the messy, tangible work that she could carry around with her, and I always admired her for it.
Memories of the Twilight-Drive In came next, sitting next to her out in the cold air. We'd sit in the back of my dads truck, blankets and pillows sprawled across the bed of the truck, popcorn and candy pieces littered throughout from our many mini food fights we'd randomly break out in. If it was especially cold, she'd sit closer to me, leaning her head on my shoulder and I'd pull one of the many blankets over her. This was when she was most peaceful, sometimes I would purposely tune out the movie and try my best to listen in on her slow and quiet breaths, finding comfort in the serenity of it. I'd look down at her, admiring how her soft features would glow in the dim light of the movie projection and the night sky. She really was beautiful, and I'm sure that these were the nights where it really stood out to me.
Not only was she beautiful physically, but mentally as well. She had been through so much, endured so much bullshit yet she still had a soft and warm personality that would draw people in. She was energetic, magnetic, electric. Every word she spoke you could hear the emotion behind it, even if it was a useless sentence that had no meaning at all. She was a human piece of art really, she was all of the art in the world placed into a breathing, living person. Poetic and colourful, abstract but simple, she is everything that I felt was beautiful in the world.
Then came the heartbreak, the memory I wanted so badly to forget about, to ignore, but it was now stuck in my brain. I led her on, didn't I? And not only that, but I left her crying and alone after. The tears started to fall, and I couldn't help but feel the burn of self hatred rise up from my stomach to my chest. She was broken, on the floor with tears falling from her beautiful (y/e/c) eyes, and it was all my fault because I decided to do something stupid. I decided to almost let my true feelings slip, I should have told her, I should have stayed.
Y/N is a smart girl, she knows how to put pieces together, and she's quite good with words and if she knows a person well enough, like she knows me, she can guess what is about to come out of their mouth. She knew what I was going to say, I could see the gleam in her eye, the one that time and time again tells me that she feels the same. I brought her up and I let her crash... I am the worst person ever. It would take a miracle for her to forgive me, hell it would take a miracle for me to forgive myself.
I straightened up and wiped the tears off my face, crying about Y/N in front of Bettys house felt wrong in some sort of sense. Thinking these thoughts about Y/N in front of Bettys house felt wrong, I just need to get away from Betty. I started up my car and ran my hand through my beanie-less hair, pulling away from the familiar home, looking back slightly to see another lone illuminated window, Bettys. And just like with Y/N, I drove away. I was gone.
Your POV-
"You look cute with that hat on." Jughead said, smiling towards me. I looked up from my notebook and blushed, rolling my eyes and smiling.
"Not as cute as you." I say, tapping my pencil on the paper. Jughead chuckles, shaking his head.
"And that's where your wrong, princess." My chest warms up at the use of his nickname for me. At one point it was used to tease me, a nickname given to me by my best friend who said I acted like a princess most of the time. Now that we are together though, its turned into something more, I'm not just any princess, I'm his, and he is my prince, and I wear his crown to show that I'm his and he is mine.
"Last time I checked, I'm never wrong, thank you though." I snap back sarcastically, beaming at him as he closes his laptop half way and looks admiringly my way.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, weren't you wrong today?" he asks, and I fake surprise.
"Was I? I don't recall."
"Yes, I'm pretty sure you were. We were listening to music in the car ride home from school and I was listening to 'Atlanta' and you tried to guess who it was by." he says, and I sink a little in my seat, trying my best to keep up my poker face.
"None of this is ringing a bell, Beanie. I think it was just all in your imagination." I reply, shrugging and leaning back in my seat.
"No, I still don't think so. You know the song Atlanta right, who is it by then?" he asks, smirking my way and I stutter, trying my best to think of the artist he had told me earlier.
"Well, I-uh... twenty one pilots?" I guessed, and he threw his head back in laughter.
"No, Stone Temple Pilots. Close though, but not really." he says once his laughter dies down a bit, and I roll my eyes.
"Whatever, same difference." I shoot back, and he shakes his head.
"Not even close." he says, and I shrug.
"I'll get it at some point." I say confidently, and he nods.
"I'm sure you will." he opens his laptop all the way again and starts to type, and I watch as his eyes dance across the screen and listen to the sound of keys being hit. He looks so happy, you can see it in his eyes that this is when he is most peaceful. Sometimes I stare at him, watching as he types away on his laptop, and I swear I can see the gears turning behind his loving eyes. I admire how the neon lights of the diner illuminates his face, creating an orange-y red glow that accentuates the features of his face. Sometimes I swear this is where I notice how handsome he really is, right here in this booth when he's happy and content and busy.
I look down at my notebook, the words and doodles scribbled across the page, the smear marks of the lead being dragged across the page from my hand. I love it when a new, untouched white page in my notebook becomes a light grey, decorated with my thoughts. I stare at tonights masterpiece, just some random writing about Jughead that I had thought up of, and a doodle of a beanie that looks like a crown. As I look up from my notebook, I see he is looking at me.
"Is there something on my face?" I asked, and he shakes his head.
"No, nothing out of the normal. Just the usual cuteness." he says, and I laugh.
"The cheese is strong with you, isn't it?" I asked, and he laughs as well.
"Hey, maybe I like being cliché, did you ever think of that?" he asks, closing his laptop and placing it in his bag.
"Yes, I have. Its not a hard thing to pick up on, especially since you do it so often." I reply, closing my notebook and placing it in my small backpack I use instead of a purse. I slide out of the booth seat and stand up, stretching slightly as Jughead stands up as well. I start to make my way to the door until a hand grabs my wrist and turns me around, facing Jughead. He smiles down at me and I smile up at him.
"Have I ever told you how happy I am that I finally fixed my mistake?" he asks, which is an odd question, but those are never few and far between with Juggie.
"What mistake?" I asked quietly, and he shrugs slightly.
"I had bad judgement, I made a haste decision that ended up being the wrong one, and fixing it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me." he tried to explain, yet he was still being so vague.
"What was your wrong decision?" I asked, and he opened his mouth to say something, but a banging noise drowned whatever he said out.
"Now do you understand?" he questioned, and I shook my head.
"No, I didn't catch what you said, the noise was too loud." I explained, and he looked down at me confused.
"What noise?" he asked.
"The loud banging noise." I said, shocked he hadn't heard it too.
"I think you're lo-" there it goes again, the noise. I can't hear the second part of his sentence, and now i'm even more confused than before.
"Did you hear it just then?" I asked, sure he had to have heard it.
"No, are you feeling okay?" he asks me, and I take a seat back in the booth, I feel a little dizzy.
"No, not really, I think I just need to-"
"Wake up?" he suggests, and I look at him confused.
"Wake up?" I asked, and he nods his head.
"You should probably wake up, go see what the noise was." he says, and I shake my head.
"But I'm not asle-" the noise is louder this time, more urgent sounding, like someone is banging on a door.
"Are you going to get that?" Jughead asks, and I shake my head.
"Get what?" I ask, and he opens his mouth to respond, but before he can I cut him off. "You know what, it doesn't matter, just tell me what your wrong decision was." I say, and he shrugs.
"I think you need to wake up." he says, sitting in the seat of the booth across from me.
"But-"
"I can't tell you what you want to know. But I'm sure whatever is making that noise can." he says, and I shake my head.
"The only one who can tell me left. He ran out, back to the one who he belongs with." I say, and Jughead shrugs.
"Have a little faith, you still have faith in him right?" he asks, and I slowly nod.
"I have no choice but to. When you're in love with someone, faith in them kind of comes naturally." I say, feeling quite tired. I yawn, and the diner starts to get blurry, and darker. I blink and things around me are now completely dark, and I'm laying down. I sit up slowly, raising my hand to my head and I feel the beanie on me. It was a dream. Of course it was a dream.
Knock! Knock!
Who the hell is here right now? I look at my phone and see its 1:27am, its a little early for visitors, who in their right mind wants to talk to me now?
