This would explain why the Broker's reaction to Katana leaving the cult is so severe. But that could just easily be that its because Katana was the first and maybe only person to leave the cult. That's kind of a big deal. Scythe doesn't seem to hate Katana with the same visceral reaction as the Broker. But she's a different person who will react differently and she already had to deal with her former partner's disapproval of her religion. All we know is Katana has a sibling he left behind in the cult. We don't know what region the Broker is from; maybe it's also Lost Temple. He had a difficult time in his life that Zuka helped him out with. Maybe it was Katana leaving.
