Now that authors have been revealed, here's my contribution to this year's Jukebox Exchange! I could not resist the opportunity to add to the "Piano Man is about a gay bar" lore, haha.

A treat I did for the Jukebox Exchange - @minutia-r requested the song Cold (House by the Sea) by Mean Mary. It’s such a creepy and melancholy song, I would have loved to write a story based on it but I didn’t have time. So I did a wordless story in two panels instead.

Wake up

Now that creators have been revealed, I can finally share the story I wrote for this year’s Jukebox Exchange! I had so much fun writing this, even though it totally got away from me and took me pretty much the full exchange period to write, haha. If you like cyborgs, post-apocalyptic shenanigans, and people coming together in the face of a broken world, I hope you’ll take a look at it. This is the first more-or-less original fiction I’ve written in ages, and I’m super proud of it. :)

The old captain is gone. The new captain, caught up in her grief, lashes out at the friends who try to help her. But when the stars change and the whole crew is in peril, she must find a way to rise up - and accept aid when it is offered.

Jukebox authors are revealed, so I can finally show off my story! It kind of got away from me (hence the length, haha) and it was a challenging process to build a world and characters entirely from scratch after so long. But it was worth it! I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’m sorely tempted to explore these characters and this world in further depth.
