Sarah Brandner at the "CocoVero meets InStyle" dinner at Rocco Forte Hotel in Munich.
The clock just turned 0:00 which makes it the one year “anniversiary” for the shooting at Utøya and the bombing in Oslo.
Tonight at 20:00 there’ll be a concert to honor all those dearly beloved who was ruthlessly killed that day. I’ll be there, to show my support to those who live, those who lost and to Norway.
I remember that I was on my way home from work when I heard it on the radio. They thought it was a gas-leak, but they were oh so wrong. When I got home, I heard it was a bomb. Not much later, I learned about the shooting.
I remember being in shock. I temember not comprehending what I was hearing. I remember mom waking me up the morning after, telling me the number of dead. I remember hearing, seeing that count go up as the dat passed. As the next day and days after that passed. I remember I stayed at my girlfriend’s place that week, as her parents were away and didn’t want her to stay alone. I remember considering going to the marking, but deciding not to because I was afraid something would happen. I remember going with her to Oslo, to the church where the flowers, candles and cards and pictures were being but down The church we so often had passed on our way to conventions. I remember sitting there, holding her hand as we listened to the choir. I remember us lighting one candle each I remember us putting down roses, lighting a candle together and putting down a poem outside I remember the tears blending in with the rain
I remember so much from that period a year ago
But mostly I remember how much stronger that made us as a country, as the people who have moved here from all over the world, how much closer we all have gotten How much we showed the world that we are able to get trhough this, that we won’t break down, that we stand even stronger and more united than ever before
