All Edward Iveson needs right now is someone who can type, not a proposal by proxy from a family friend who’s decided he should marry her daughter. Julia has excellent typing and shorthand and no intention of doing what her mother tells her, so there shouldn’t be a problem, should there?

Six Sentence Sunday

If I’d been feeling slightly less exhausted, I’d have started typing up my intoabar fic, but alas I was, so all I have is more of my origfic AU Edward and Julia not doing much in the middle of nowhere during one of the drabbest years of the century while working together to close down an empty, failed business.  But, you know, I thought I’d share anyway, because I’m generous like that.  XD

Julia had been expecting Edward Iveson to want to rush back to the office, but she was not about to argue with a free lunch.  She smiled back at him as she tied her headscarf on more firmly, and nodded.   “Although only if you think the manager won’t mind.  He’s quite strict, you know.”

“Is he?” said Edward, and she could hear the amusement in his voice, though he remained straight-faced.  “Well, we did start early, and Matthews was the major obstacle left in getting this business finished.  I think he’ll understand this once.  Come on.”

Six Sentence Sunday

At the moment, in non-secret WIPs, I still just have my latest bit of origfic for hc_bingo and rainbowfic (so it is sort of fannish), so have some more of my very exciting Austerity Britain Edward/Julia AU. 

(I mean, at the end someone will fall into a largeish hole!  And, um, there will be trains and typing and complaints about rationing.  Oh, and a village fete.  With cake.)

“Yes,” said Julia.  “You want me to write a letter, you said?  Shall we get on with it?”

Edward looked round the darkened file room and then back at her and nodded. “If you don’t mind me dictating, of course.”

“I would expect nothing less,” Julia said.

Six Sentence Sunday

My fanfic WIPs are currently exchange stories and AU snippets, but I’ve returned to typing up one of my longer origfic stories for rainbowfic, another Edward/Julia AU for Divide & Rule.  This is slightly over six sentences (maths has never been my strong point), and, yes it’s going exactly where it sounds like it’s going. ;-p

“Well, I think that you should marry Julia,” said Hanne, causing him to come close to dropping the already battered office tea-cups and saucers.  “No, no – don’t say a word.  Of course, you’ll need to meet her again properly, and after that, you’ll need to win her over, but I’m sure you can.”

Edward, who had been inclined to take offence, now had to turn his head away, wanting to laugh.  He was touched by Mrs Graves’s faith in his prowess as a lover.  He was pretty sure no one else on the planet would share her opinion.  Julia, he thought, would almost certainly not.  He remembered her vaguely as a particularly lively and decided young lady who would be unlikely to marry someone because her mother told her to.  Well, who would?
