Learning Chinese with Lyrics: 万年 - 吴卓源(Julia Wu)
This is my favorite Mandopop song at the moment. It’s so beautiful yet sad. I highly recommend the music video--if you grew up watching old Taiwanese music videos, it will make you feel so nostalgic.
I’ve found that listening to music is a great way to help me easily learn new vocabulary. Since I’ve been listening to this song so much lately, hopefully all of the vocab below will feel very familiar soon!
万年 - 吴卓源(Julia Wu)
想搭乘时光机 到当初相爱场景 沙滩留下脚印 画翅膀在手心 如今回忆已成笑柄
搭乘 dāchéng - to ride, to travel by 时光机 shíguāngjī - time machine 场景 chǎngjǐng - scene, scenario, setting 沙滩 shātān - beach, sandy shore 脚印 jiǎoyìn - footprint 手心 shǒuxīn - palm 笑柄 xiàobǐng - laughingstock, object for ridicule
爱到尽头依然情深 连谎言都显得逼真 任凭夜已黑 心已碎 花枯萎 冷风吹 我默默擦拭眼泪
尽头 jìntóu - end, extremity, limit 依然 yīrán - still, as before 逼真 bīzhēn - lifelike, true to life 任凭 rènpíng - no matter what, despite 碎 suì - to break into pieces 枯萎 kūwěi - to wilt, to wither 擦拭 cāshì - to wipe clean
